I see watches mentioned and I wonder if my former next door neighbour would take that up as an idea? He's currently offering a 'Jaguar' branded watch in his range although I somehow think that Scalextric wouldn't go down quite so well on a watch that sells for £7,995. But maybe he could put Scalextric on his lowest priced model as it comes in at a mere £2,595?
And people moan about the price of model railways
Mine is a ten quid Sekonda off the market many years ago. Apart from replacing straps and batteries it is still very accurate and tells me the time - which is all I want! Going out with thousands of pounds strapped to my wrist ain't my bag (whatever that is......)

Just think, if you went to the Hornby stand and demonstrated that you were wearing a pair of Hornby Socks, you might get entered in a prize draw for something that wasn't shifting quickly enough!!!
Like another pair of socks ?

That was a signal crayfish. A nasty invasive species that we really could do with getting rid of. The underside of the claw is distinctly orange as it happens. The rest is more of a dull grey-brown for camoflague purposes. So not a very appetising appearance. Is that the 'American' one that is infesting rivers and killing off the native variant? They appear very off-putting to me!

I thought the Lisbon station looked an architectural mish-mash TBH. Perhaps it's an example of 'emperor's new clothes' syndrom - 'if a noted architect has designed it then it must be good'.
Just recently I've also noticed how programmes are following each other with locations. This morning's Antiques show was at Leeds City Varieties where Michael Portillo was a night or two before. I know they're all repeats (several times over!) but these coincidences seem to be becoming more and more common.
Or is it just me.....................

Weren't they at 60 degrees? Was it was LN's - or possibly another class entirely!
Or (as is completely possible) I am in my usual state of complete confusion and it never happened at all.......................

The single ended ones I've got have very little end float, I can just get a worm on the shaft but the hardest job was getting the pinion off.
We P4 modellers use a large pudding hammer for small jobs like that

Is the perfect 90 degrees critical? Surely what is important lid that all wheelsets are the same.
What if you're building a Lord Nelson?
(I think that's the correct class?!)

I've faced mine with 20thou plasticard either side of the sprung 'stubs' - but never thought of taping the wheels in position. Doh! One of my bugbears is the wheel falling off the stub when putting the halves together. Tthis idea should cure it. Thanks David.

Years ago I asked an EM modeller, why EM rather than P4 and his answer was,"It works!"
Anything works - if it's built properly. I've seen some diabolical OO layouts in my time.
And some EM ones too.................

Barnstaple is another location where empty stock now has to be propelled out of the station.
Rationalisation at Barnstaple has left just a single platform road. On arrival and once passengers have been detrained the stock is propelled out of the platform into a siding where the loco is a run-round. The stock is then propelled back into the platform before the train can depart back to Exeter,
cheers
And the origional Dorchester where trains heading North/Up had to reverse into the Up platform. I know - 'cos I've done it!

Hard to believe that the full and empty barges are one and the same! Took me a moment to realise it!

It runs really well. It's on Trix Twin Bakelite track in the film, so it won't go through points that are not set for the main line. In the past I found that only my older Tri-ang locos will run on Tri-ang Standard track. I've not tried the "Tanker" on Standard track but will have a go later today and see if it will cope with points.
Silly me! Of course it's not on Triang track in the video. Tut, tut..................

Modelu have (or at the very least had) a range of stools in lengths that can be cut as required. Some rodding was rectangular channel section and square section wire can be used for this. I still have some Colin Waite components and a small jig to build them that I used around 40 years ago (!!). Still the most convincing IMHO.

A bit niche but I'd love to see a Consett Iron Co 'long boiler' 0-6-0PT, especially for those who strive after authentically ropey 'industrial' trackwork. Could be hours of innocent enjoyment for spectators (when permitted).
Isn't this the Judith Edge kit?

Looks very smooth and quiet. The wheels are wide though aren't they. Seems to run well on Triang Standard track. How does it cope with Triang pointwork?

Described as a self-assembly kit here. Were they ever sold as a finished item - or was this a ruse to get round Purchase Tax?
Never noticed the 'Tanker' description before! Any video clips of yours on the move?

Harlequin, did you get any further with printing these? TBH, I'd almost forgotten this thread

My Dad grew rhubarb in the garden using upturned old rusty buckets to force it. Until we moved to Wakey 50 years I had no idea it was grown commercially.

Cor, next year I'll be a millionaire! Got some of them.
