  1. Hi Ian, I was interested in your comment about N gauge. When I started in N Gauge some years ago, I decided on North American outline, using Kato and Atlas, as I was frankly disenchanted with the British outline choice and reliability. It has of course enabled me to run DCC as well. However. I believe things are improving, and I'm interested in anyone's views John
  2. Hi Robin, Thank you for your prompt reply. If you have any shots which include the Signal Box, I would be most interested. A long time ago when I first considered a model of Barrow Road, I did possess the plans which I guess you're working from. I'd like to build a photographic file of the areas my father was associated with and which I enjoyed visiting. It will be good for the family to have a pictorial record for the future. Thanks for the Midland Record information. John
  3. Hello Robin, I stumbled across your blog whilst searching for Barrow Road images. My father was a signalman at Barrow Road in the late 1950's and I had the opportunity as a young boy to not only visit the Signal Box and roundhouse but also ' shunt in the yard ' ............Sshhhhhh !! Oh what memories ! I'd cycled from Downend to Barrow Road ( without Dad's knowledge ) Imagine his surprise to see me frantically waving from the Arches whilst standing on my bike's saddle. There were often strong bonds forged between signalmen and my father's contemporary at Lawrence Hill Box was virtually an ' Uncle ' to me. Dad eventually moved to ' mainline working ' and was at Chipping Sodbury Box until closure. My search for images therefore is purely for nostalgia ( I do model in American N gauge - but only at beginners level ! ) I did have an image of Barrow Road on my PC which included the Signal Box - albeit from afar - but sadly it's been lost, so I'm trying to recapture as much as I can. So as you can imagine your project holds particular interest for me and I wish you well with it's progress. Any photographic sources would obviously be most welcome. John
