  1. Hi Bill Good to see some progress on the R1 and will watch with interest. I used a few branchlines items on mine, safety valves, clack valves and smoke box door dart and Backhead although chopped that up for the motor shaft clearance I was very satisfied with them. I did use the SE Finecast chassis and it runs very well and although it is wrong I am still very pleased with the overall look of the loco. How is the L1 coming on too ? Take care and all the best Chris
  2. Hi Bryan Good to see some progress, will keep an eye on as still have my H class to build, Finished detailing the R1, just need to add the coal. Keep up the good work All the best Chris
  3. Very nice indeed. Looks lovely. ALl the best Chris
  4. Very Nice Rich. Leader looks great as do the coaches and BOB. The Cork is a good Idea, will have to give it a try although by the time I get to see all my stuff that is packed away (busy doing loft conversion) I may well forget (getting old !!!). All the best Chris
  5. Very nice Dave, the coaches are coming on and looking fabulous. The smokebox work with the riveter again looks lovely. Great work. All the best Chris
  6. Hi all I have managed some further work on the lovely D3. I have been doing the handrail, pipework and the Pull/Push gear. I have been able to progress with this thanks to Ernie (The Bigbee Line) who has kindly sent me some images of some Push/pull gear with some tank top images as I could not locate any (although these are from the M7 they are very helpful for the layout etc). Although I have made a start on the gear there is still a long way to go. I have also done the Cab floor and what I can of the backhead from laminated plasticard and the rear bulkhead. Thanks for looking All the best Chris
  7. Hi Both Hope you had a great Christmas, thanks Rich will see if I can get one to try at some point soon. Leader is looking good and hope Santa was able to get finished okay !!! Happy New Year All the best Chris
  8. Hi Dave The work and workmanship on the chassis so far is fantastic., This is all quite inspirational and I have found myself thinking about scratching a loco one day. Although will have to finish the loft conversion first to keep SWMBO happy, I could see her being quite miffed if I showed her a chassis after supposed progress on the house !!! Keep up the great work All the best Chris
  9. Hi Both Great work, shunter looks great. Like the coach kits too are they Ian Kirk kits ? I have always wondered what they are like to build (will have to invest in one to see) a great idea with the interiors and the magnets too. Keep up the good work All the best Chris
  10. Hi Ian Great work, you have some fantastic stock there and you have done a fabulous job making it. I have a DC kits Thumper to build with some replica glazing and jumpers etc. will have to get on with that one day, but in the process of a loft conversion so not too much modelling time at the mo. Keep up the good work All the best Chris
  11. Looks very nice indeed, like the coaches too. Great work on all the Terriers in the thread. All the best Chris
  12. Hi Great thread and very interesting ideas, I recently bought one of the old metal 0-4-0 chassis although with a later can motor very cheaply off Ebay and it runs beautifully, I will be using it for a 1/32 Narrow gauge loco as a 4-4-0T with a Hall class bogie up front. Footplate has been cut from 1.5mm plasticard, but that is as far as I have got at the mo due to building work we are having done so nearly all stock is packed up bar a few projects I can do at the dining table. Keep up the great work. All the best Chris
  13. Hi Guys Great work, you have some great stock there. I love the detailing up old RTR models and have been doing some myself recently with an old Hornby-Dublo R1 and a Triang L1. The work on the cranes too looks amazing. Great skills. Keep up the good work All the best Chris
  14. Hi Dave Very nice indeed, great solution, I had never thought of using the Fibreglass backed PCB, may well have to look at that. The O2 looks great by the way. All the best Chris
  15. Hi All Sorry I have been away for a while, a loft conversion which has now started has made me try to finish a few started/stalled models and so I have nearly finished this one, there are still some bits to do such as couplings, coal etc but she is nearly done. She is in a bit of a grubby state as a photo of this one not long before withdrawal on the tiniternet shows her very grubby and still with the GWR logo on the tender. I appreciate there may be some errors but I like the look of it and it works too. Thanks for looking All the best Chris
  16. HI Dave Hope you are well, wow the coaching stock looks great and the new Hunslet looks amazing too, great work, I wish I had your scratchbuilding skills. I have been away for a bit and recently have been packing up all possessions nearly for a loft conversion which is now underway, although currently without heating and insulation so very cold, will be worth it though. Keep up the fabulous work. All the best Chris
  17. Hi Pete Hope you are keeping well, sorry I have been away for a while. An interesting foray into this scale, I have always like the look of the proper scale gauges however doubt I will enter into this as time for modelling is a bit low and the cost of redoing all my stock is a bit prohibitive, although, you never know one day maybe. Keep up the good work All the best Chris
  18. Hi Dave Sorry I have been away from Railway modelling for a while, been busy with work, family and have been able to fit in some Aircraft modelling too. I am now trying to do some on both Rail and Aircraft, bit more progress with the D3 chassis (have yet to post photos). I do love this loco thread and have just caught up again. Great work , the E1 looks fantastic. I like the idea of the backscratcher contacts too, will have to look at that when I build my next chassis. Very inspiring modelling fella, thanks for sharing. I am sorry about the absence too, I do have a note though !!! All the best Chris PS, edit due to spelling mistake.
  19. Very nice, I have a spare box file, may have to try one of these, just got to figure out what to build. Keep up the good work All the best Chris
  20. Very Nice Dave, I will catch up with this thread as soon as I can and have added to favourites for some NG inspiration. I have not been able to do anything to mine yet unfortunately, will try soon though. Keep up the good work All the best Chris
  21. Great fix Dave, very innovative, looking good. All the best Chris
  22. Hi Dave I have sent you a PM to save taking up your thread. All the best Chris
  23. Hi Bryan Great work so far on the Locos, I am really sorry to hear of the passing of your Mum, please accept my sincere condolences. Nice photos and purchases. My modelling pace is Glacial I think it is because I have to get up in the loft to do it so sometimes just don't feel like it after a day at work (this is soon to be remedied hopefully due to us going to be doing a loft conversion soon so will have a modelling room, bliss!!!). Keep up the good work All the best Chris Edited for a spelling mistake (Long day)
  24. Hi Dave What fantastic work, I have been catching up with your thread (about half way through now). Very inspirational stuff. I have recently got into building loco kits and am concentrating on the easier 0-4-4, 0-6-0 locos at the mo, that way the valve gear isn't as scary. Also model Southern (SECR and LBSC locos in the Ashford/New Romney areas). Along with a new project 1/32nd scale narrow gauge and have therefore been checking out your NG layouts too with much interest (as going to have a go at my first loco for that too). Keep up the great work and I will catch up with the rest soon. Thanks for sharing All the best Chris
