    If companies treated their customers with as much disrespect as they treated people who reply to job advertisments they'd be out of business in a month or two.

      99% of applications are probably sent by email so it shouldn't be difficult to acknowledge receipt let alone say thanks but no thanks - no cost apart from maybe an hour of someone's time.

      Ah, but there is a fundamental difference - if they want your money that's one thing but if you want theirs...

      I very rarely get acknowledgements from e-mail applications, not even an auto reply!!! A thank you for your application would be nice.
