  1. A trick I got from the club members is to get a blob of bluetak and put this in the planned position of the decoder. Replace the body on the chassis which will squash it down. Then when you remove the body again you will see how much space you have. If not enough you can either try and modify the chassis or body to create the space you need, or try another position

  2. Hi Richard

As you look into the supplier aspect there has been a marked move away from the traditional model shop, ideed they are few and far between, why?

Also you may want to look at the age of modellers, here you may find many senior modellers that started very young, whereas there are fewer young modellers about (wait for some responses on that statment!) there is, in my view a change in society where there is less creating and more expecting the product to be there for you to @play with@, computor games for instance. Of course this not only impacts the world of model railways.

    All the best

  3. This is looking really good. What are the origins of the model, DJH?

Don't forget to fit the axle boxes on the tender.

I built one from the DJH kit which I thought was very good as far as the body was concerned, the only modification I made was to lower the cab roof slightly.

As I build in P4 I replaced the kit chassis with one from Comet

Can we see some more photos please

  4. Good luck with your first brass kit, we all have to start somewhere. I got a bradwell WD for xmas and my approach to pushing rivits is to use a tool with a reasonably sharp point and hand pressure with the brass on a pice of MDF. I find that the broaches for reaming out holes are ideal but beware that if you have too sharp a point you can push through.
