  5. Hello Tim and welcome to the forum, Glad to hear you enjoyed the issue, what scale do you model in and what did you find the most useful in this issue?
  6. I beg to differ - modelling magazines are on the newstand because there's a newstand. Without one, I'd challenge you to convince supermarkets (and the like) to start stocking modelling magazines. The newstand isn't departing, it's just morphing into an electronic version. The subscription-based model isn't subjected to the same risk, however - I suspect door-to-door deliveries of magazine et al. will continue for a good while yet. I agree with your thoughts here, but this won't happen. For now the electronic alternative isn't mature enough, though as you'll see from every new digital issue thread on BRM, it's a far more enhanced version of the magazine and we're developing these with more content every month for subscribers (and casual purchasers alike), all linked to the content within - more videos, more photographs and live links. We'd like to think our digital edition is 'head and shoulders' above the competition for quality and quantity alike. We have exciting long-term plans for digital...
  7. Update - we're looking into it. Fingers crossed it's changed soon, thanks for letting us know.
  8. The industry as in 'magazine industry'. Railway modelling magazines aren't on a little island safe from what occurs in the publishing industry. Paper costs, distribution and newstand costs never get smaller each year - three things to which the digital edition isn't subjected (though Pocketmags, our digital platform providers aren't free). Nobody is suggesting that the paper version will be dropped, but last month we had our best-ever selling digital issue of BRM - proof that it's not a craze. We've been offering digital editions for several years and it hasn't impacted greatly on print editions - we're still printing! Let's not speculate on doom and gloom - for now, there's room for both, side-by-side...
  9. This is true and something many don't realise. We have to sell approx. seven paper copies to generate the same profit as one digital sale. The market for both is still there (for now), but there's a significant shift in the industry...
  10. It should have been August 16 - those were the dates we've been working to. Would you mind letting us know which McColl's store this was, please? Hopefully it'll be in your local very soon.
  11. Hello Peter, yes, standard company policy, as with many others.
  12. Hello Peter, I've looked into the matter and the below is from our accounts: "This will be in his account on Thursday. His invoice was only dated 1st August and it missed the payment run the week it was received so it was put on the next payment run." I trust this helps settle your worry over not being paid for your article.

  14. Progress... the body will be dropped soon. Tracking wasn't done in the below shots. Let's hope it starts first time!
  15. Hi Jason - thank you. Yes, it's not something that should be sprayed indoors and I'd recommend anyone who really must do it indoors wear a face mask. In other words, do as I say, not as I do...
  16. OK, you all caught me out... i didn't have an iron in the studio at the time, so thought a pen and photoshop would go unnoticed! Next time, it's point motor installation, though not as in-depth as I'd have liked because our crew have bigger fish to fry... hopefully you'll all still enjoy it though.
  17. I think Andy got ahead of himself there This month's DVD is a scenic layout renovation (on a budget) to tie-in with the scenery theme. Called 'The art of compromise', Phil and I took on its transformation over two days - it was a great blank canvas for demonstrating a crash course in layout transformation. Pick up a copy of BRM or grab the digital edition for those of you who haven't seen it yet.
  18. How did you know? Have you not finished that book yet?
  19. Never a dull moment with Adrian and complementing his piece as part of the mini signalling theme is Mick Nicholson, who introduces some key semaphore signalling practice of use to modellers with prototypical examples. And no, we're not done with Adrian yet - he still has plenty of tales up his sleeve to be told, some of which fit nicely with forthcoming layouts and articles.

  21. No influence at all, entirely my fault when recording voice overs - was able to correct for the digi edition, but the DVDs had already gone! Of all the mistakes!!!
  22. Redownloading the issue should fix this - there's been a link change...
