  1. That picture was our main reference!
  2. Some of the buildings made early on in the construction of the layout are not to the same standard as the later models. Hence we are remaking some of the older buildings. The first four buildings to be remade are the small kiosks on the platform concourse. First the original ticket office: and the remade model. Now the Rail bar: and the new version, complete with beer glasses (with froth on top) and beer pumps! The Newsagents old version: and the new version. A vast improvement this one. Don't tell me the magazines on the back wall are current magazines I know!! Finally the tobacconist: and the new version. We are not sure if this really was a tobacconist in 1947. No doubt someone will tell us we have got it wrong! The real thing appears to be made of glass blocks, hence the model is made of clear plastic. Once lit it should be interesting. All these models were 3D printed. Before they are placed on the layout the models will be weathered!
  3. Not yet! It is our plan to remove it at some time in the future, but at present it supports the lighting framework, hence it is a major job to remove it.
  4. Lighting now installed on Lime Street in front of the North Western Hotel.
  5. My first attempt at 3D printing a small building to go on the platforms of Lime Street Station. It does need a bit of cleaning up prior to painting.
  6. Hope this clarifies the method we used. The filament lamp is within a lamp housing and connected to the inner 1mm square post and the outer brass tube. The 1mm square brass is soldered to an insulated brass tube at the bottom of the post. When the post is in position the upper brass tube connects with the brass tube sleeve glued into the baseboard and the lower part of the post connects to two sprung bushes.
  7. Many lights make hands work! Street lamps for Lime Street. The orange one is for checking lamps or checking the socket the lamp locates in.
  8. They are LNER Gresley teak coaches. They came into Liverpool Lime Street on the service from Newcastle.
  9. That will come soon. I am in the middle of making a couple of dozen street lights for Lime Street.
  10. 6115 Scots Guardsman brings its first train into Liverpool Lime Street. A bit of running in and fault finding will soon find it on regular trains.
  11. A couple of photos of a new engine for Lime Street. A Brassmasters Princess Royal.
  12. Not seen that photo before. I have ordered a high definition version! Thanks
  13. Whilst some of the baseboards are not in position, and without the station roof the new office block is revealed in all its glory by day and night!
  14. Hope you have got the signals the right way up!!!
  15. It looks like the flag was correct. It was just hung incorrectly!
  16. The large Union Jack on the front of the layout had the binding tape of the flag on the right hand side indicating the position of the flagpole. The flag was therefore the correct way up. However the flag on the front of the hotel is upside down. Flying the flag upside down is a sign of distress. The operators were totally stressed out operating the layout so the hotel flag could be considered correct!!!!!
  17. Excellent, a busy tram scene. Can he not leave the trams with us!!
  18. Barbed wire on which wall? and when?
  19. Made a change from building locos and hotels!
  20. And when the North Western Hotel was built the Western part of the Lord Nelson building was demolished. At the same time, possibly, the Lord Nelson Building had and extra storey added.
  21. Maybe the office block is visible through the main door of the curtain wall.
  22. Perhaps this is the original station building. We have a drawing of the station building on Lord Nelson Street which eventually became offices. Parts of this building still exists. Looks like there were three different versions of Lime Street Station! .
  23. A few random photos taken today during one of our running sessions.
  24. No curtains! Another mistake! And i took several photos of our dining room curtains in different degrees of closure. These were worked on with photo editing software before printing and sticking behind the window frames. Can't win them all! We have no access to any documents you mention so any scanned information could be useful to us. We probably have access to the MRJ article. Thanks Les
  25. Glad you recognised the building John. We had to make a lot of assumptions when making the model as we had no photos of the station side of the building. The main assumption, and probably incorrect, was that the back of the building facing the station roof was the same as the front facing Lord Nelson Street. Also we didn't know the original building was a bit longer than it was in 1947. Part of it was demolished when the North Western Hotel was built and an extra couple of storeys were added at the same time. This means the back and front of the building as it was in 1947 would no longer be symmetrical about its centre. Our model is symmetrical. No doubt we will find photos of the station side at some time in the future. Do you know, or have any information, about the next building up from the offices along Lord Nelson Street? We have no information on that at all and we now have a big gap on the layout. We think there may have been a boxing venue there, between the offices and the tobacco warehouse. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Les
