  1. I'm not satisfied at 100 % on the details because I have finish my layout in the hurry. Our club closes at the end of the month ! Anyway, the layout is more or less finished and will be ready to go in exhibitions. Here some photos with new locos and a few new rolling stocks. I will run also on the layout also a listen and a Ruston too. The gmeinder The boat Bob during a pause Bob on a free lance deutz The snow plow A precious load for Bob and Doug
  2. It is not really a choice. Unfortunately our club is closing. So I have to do train at home in an apartment, so I have to downsizing. Anyway I could not do this layout at 1/13 scale.
  3. malaikum salaam, It's a fictional city but I will used true locomotives and rolling stock of 1917 based on post card and historical information, with camel, donkey, market, music, all the folks of Morocco. I spent regular holidays in Morocco and Tunisia. I took many pictures of palm tree, I took dimension, sample of bark, ... in brief even if the city is fictional, it must look real.
  4. I just made a mock up at scale of my layout in order to have of tracks, volume, oasis area and village. It's helping my also to visualize the size of the convoy
  5. I have nearly finish the boat. I have to add windows and do little weathering
  6. I spent a lot of time to finish my boat, I'm not a model boat builder so It's quite boring. I just finish a snow plow inspired by a narrow gauge model from Germany I just finish a snow plow connect to a loco inspired by a narrow gauge model in Italy. I add also light to my building. I test also a new kind of snow because I'm fully satisfied by this one. This week end I wil do an exhibition near Bruxelles with the woolacombe bay.
  7. I just finish tree locos for this layout. I work hard during 3 days to paint them and weather them. The first one is a free lance diema base on a 040 davenport of Bachman. I use few laser cut parts. The second one is a free lance loco base on a 040 davenport of Bachman. I use parts of backwood transkit. I'm not very happy with the result but The loco will stay like that. The last one is a Gmeinder 18/20 on a davenport chassis. I use marvellous casting parts of Bill Martinsen c/.
  8. Hi, I will start a new layout after the woolacombe bay and the nearly finished vestvagoy. At an exhibition, a friend offered me these postcards I wanted to do a layout based on these photos but at 1/13 scale it was not possible. So I choose to do that at 1/72 scale because at this scale there are french military figures and arabs too. At Morocco in 1916, the french developed narrow gauge railways of 60 cm for civilian and military used. 60 cm at 1/72 scale is more of less 9mm, so I could used too the 009 material. The layout will be an oval of 120 cm by 47 cm with an hidden part behind to finish the oval The layout will look like more or less to that.
  9. This layout is superb. I discover it in Voie libre magazine.
  10. Thank you for the tip. I will also made a try to made ripples with acrylic gloss medium.
  11. Your photo is excellent. It will be a good source of inspiration for me. For the ripple I don't know how I will do but I have to study it.
  12. Hello Ben, Sorry for the bad quality of the photo (I took it with an Iphone and I moved at the same time). The sea surface is painted and I will cover it with a Two component epoxy resin to simulate the calm water.
  13. Most of the parts come from macs mouldings (a talent full English craftman of boat parts), the rest are from me. In general I try to do by myself but I am not a boat builder, I am more a rail road builder
  14. After a long period of inactivity on the layout, I made some progress on the boat. I need to add few details.
  15. I have practically finish the building. The boat is not finished.
  16. I have finished the wood beam of the pier, paint the pier in white in order to put snow on it. I have also pre stained the builduing before the red paint.
  17. I made some progress during the last 2 days. I install the rail and I begin also the structures.
  18. Today, I make some progress : - installation of the backdrop - painting of sea - Gluing pcb tie
  19. I start the layout just after I came back from Midland Railex where I have validate during the 2 days of exhibitions that I can have fun with 3 tracks only and a transfer table. So now I can built my new layout
  20. After Modelling the Woolacombe Bay at 1/13.7 scale, I start a new layout called Vestvagoy. A norway harbour at 1/13.7 scale located on the Vestvagoy in Lofoten Islands in the north of Norway. It's a fictional railways. The rea is nowadays. The Track are 45 mm / 2 feet scale. The scale is 7/8 inch for one foot or 1/13.7 The railway system allows the fishermen to transport the fish and the fishing materials from the boat to the fishery The layout measures 143 cm by 73 cm plus a fiddle yard on the left part of the layout of 93 cm by 73 cm (not shows on the photos). On the fiddle yard, I have 3 tracks that allow me to do various movements between the layout and the “rest of the world”. I run the layout from the front in order to be able to share and discuss with the visitors. I’m equipped for that with a DCC Wireless Infrared System to be able to move freely. I will be able to utilized my fleet of locomotives of free lance locos and true English and german one like the Lister, the Ruston 20 HP and Ransom and Rapier. The rolling stocks come from Bachmann, LGB, HLW and also entire scratch build ones. The layout runs on DCC with an Spectrum EZ Command Control System Dynamis Wireless Infrared System. Each locomotive is equipped with a DCC decoder. The sound of the loco is also played under the layout with an Esu sound decoder plus a subwoofer and two satellites. In parallel, I play a CD on a CD player links also to another separate Hercules XPS2-135 system. The CD contains true sounds of waves mixed with seagulls, sterns, … The boat and the building on the quay belong to Hansen Fisk company I start the layout by the central element, the boat. I order the hull in vacuum plastic in UK (30 inches long) plus the accessories of another supplier in UK. The boat will look like of a mix of that Here the mock up of the layout at 1/5 scale of 1/13 scale (ie 1/65 scale) The quay will be done in wood. On the quay, a crane from a truck will help to unload the fishes from the boat (crane from mackmouldings) The only unknown element for me is how to do a calm sea. I never do that before and I have seen many techniques on internet. The key factor of success for this layout is the sea. I'm a little lost so if you can help me ?
