On Saturday 2nd April entered its next exciting chapter.
Before I elaborate further, let’s just take a few moments to reflect on where it all first started 10 years ago…

Six years on from when our BCB adventure, started we (Staffordshire Finescale Group) have made the difficult decision that it is time for the layout to move on, in the hope that new owners can give it the time and attention that it deserves.
Further details of what is included in the sale can be found in a post on the SFG blog, here
Anybody wishing to express an interest in buying the layout can contact us either by using the contact form on the blog page in the above link or by PM.
Myself and a couple of the other members of the group will be at DEMU Showcase in Burton-Upon-Trent this weekend so would be happy to answer any questions from anyone who is considering expressing an interest in buying the layout.
Black Country Blues is looking for a new home.
PM me for more details..

Blimey, you have had a busy weekend, 4 holes, 4 bits of wire and some glue! Best you go back to work for a rest.
Yes - it was 4 days...Just sat down for a rest and a beer...

This is the second one. As ever, improved on the first. I’ve reduced the drill size so it’s a push fit and only glued underneath - this time with superglue. On the first one I managed to get Araldite in the tube - which then required cleaning out!

Now fitted under the board to give the switches the correct spacing.

A little progress.
Here are the tubes mounted in the point actuator slider.

Don't you go overdoing, you may end up finishing it and have to find a new project.
Don’t panic on that one!- 1

I'm not sure which is the worst bit of abuse there, medical, fiscal, technical, mechanical, so many options!
Mike.
All I’ve done is drill a couple of holes...- 1

Right, I better get on and do something...
First job is drilling holes in the point actuating bar which goes under the board within the tortoise mounting base.
Im using the calliper to get the spacing correct from the previous switch blade measurement I took.

Right, having done the instructed thinking, I'm going to settle on Flat front, 3 windows.
Having reached that landmark decision I'm off into the garden to dig a big hole.
Let me know if you need someone to look in to the hole with you - I’m able to point and all sorts...- 1

Gordon, this video made by David B may be of interest. He is my 'go-to' person for soldering advice. He's done some exquisitely delicate brass to whitemetal work for me.
I've been soldering for years but my efforts were always 'blobby' rather than 'invisible' but since knowing David and using his methods my standards have improved. Quite good for a ham-fisted modeller!

Thank you for posting that link.Excellent concise explanations - very clear and understandable.

I know someone whose kitchen is extended over what used to be the back yard and they have that for a breakfast table.
What was once a breakfast table is now my train bodging table.
