You're far too easily influenced, I blame that Forrest bloke, oh, and your inherent weakness!
Mike.
I have many weaknesses - I enjoy the variety.- 2

Inbound...
This a gas torch. I’m sure you properly know this. After some subtle prodding from Geoff and Mark I’ve bitten the bullet and bought one.
This is in order to silver solder the droppers to switchblades for the points.
The silver solder has also arrived in a syringe.
I’ve not done this before....Oh and you need a microscope to read the instructions...

The Scottish Rail Preservation Group Diesel working away bringing 37261 back to life, sure she'll be a read credit to the group as per all the other 37s they've done.
Just had a look at that. They’ve done a lot of really good stuff over the years - I get their FB updates. Really respect the engineering effort that goes into all their projects.

There is fuel, lub oil and coolant hoses visible (provided they use the same connectors nowadays). In the early 80s then there would also be a water supply for the loco boilers.
These days we have various other things in the fuel bay such as AdBlue for the Zoomers. We also now have the CET pumps.

Like last night I’ve been searching for photographs of locos that were based at IS in 83 and again more specifically ones I spotted. Tonight I’ve been looking at 47s with not so much success. Most shots being out of period and in Large Logo livery.
However I did turn up this little gem which amongst other things is a good reference shot for the refuelling area.
I’ve still not worked out what all the pipes do and what would be under the shelter. If anyone understands these things I’d appreciate your wisdom on such matters.

Found it - 37 114 was repainted in the Large Logo in July 1984.- 1

It gave us all a light moment. Thanks.
Mike.
Well it beats modelling.
On a separate note - I keep getting adverts for glasses on this website - is someone trying to tell me something about my modelling?

Well, We didnt go out much once we had the kids, so as Emily was born in 1195 it would suggest before that. We did get sitters so its not impossible that it was after that just less likely. How does that sound?

The Blues band, great British band, lead by Paul Jones (ex Manfred Man), fantastic vocals and harmonica. I have also seen them at 'The gatehouse' we were probably together, I know my Jane was there.

Shall we put a date on it? -
I’ve just been looking on the internet for pictures of my chosen locos, in particular the class 26s and found this website;

Thank youI just feel it helps with reliability and also if you do have a fault it should be clearer where to look...

Ive just played Fat City Blues BandWhat a great band and CD
Probably best listened to with a Malt Whisky and sitting in a red leather chair (have you still got the chair)
Eltel
Tel,
They came to Stafford and played in the Gatehouse I think? Some of us went but I can’t remember who?
Yes the chairs here - it had a refurb a few years ago.
It still remains the only reclining one I’ve ever seen.

Now back the right way up and bit of testing reveals all ok - everything’s connected to where it should be and not connected to where it shouldn’t be.

Now pretty much all connected up to the tag strip. The loose blue and orange wires are for the switchblades when they go in and the yellow wires are for the two common crossings.
A bit more wiring will be required; the connections to the fiddle yard and the point motors, but this is basically it.

Now for a bit more wiring. I’ve mounted the tag strips and started soldering wires to it. I try and do them in some sort of order to keep them looking neat.

Very good , they do seem to hug the ground well. more akin to Vic`s than Inverness !
Hope point blades not too faraway as it is almost testing time with wheels.
Thanks for updates.

Is it what the Americans call “hunkered down” ?

Mineral - but not wagons.
I’ve been lucky enough to do a loco body swap for the three locos I have with a fellow RMWebber.
The corollary of this is that I now have three locos from my main initial era of the 1980s
Boom.

Animal, vegetable or mineral?

Yep I’m right behind you.
Although it says P4 wheels not currently available, so I’ll get in touch and see what’s happening on those first.
Emptied the whiskey bottle especially...
