The best thing about it is the viewing angle not to mention the Faller car system which drives the lorry and bus, they share that little bridge with the trains!

Good choice Allan. You can have so much more fun with narrow gauge! Have you ever seen Crumley and Little Wick Hill? http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/63231-roth-valley-tramway-crumley-and-little-wickhill/

Cracking layout! I enjoy your no nonsense get on with it approach. Do you find that commiting to exhibitions gets more done?
-
I just checked hattons website and they have a box of 48 Luftwaffe ground personel for 4.40. They might not be too bad if some heads were swapped with Dapols workmen!
Edited for bad english and punctuation.
-
They are not loco crews ,but look like RAF to me!.
RAF and Luftwaffe, wouldn't want those near my heavy goods engines!
-
Couldn't see the keyboard for tears. I ask you, ten quid for 9 old airfix ground crew. I suppose they are ex-layout.
-
They can't be serious, the bidders that is. I didn't know wether to laugh or cry!

Nice Layout there Treggyman. love the buildings, very inspirational stuff. What did you use for those fence posts? I drilled holes in many match sticks and threaded fine beadingwire through ours a bit over scale but a pleasing result!
looking forward to seeing more.
Regards Shaun.

Appologies for any misunderstandings or misleadings in posts 828 & 829.
No excuses either!
Shaun.
Edit; Sasquatch is not thinking straight. What with this pending house move opening up the dream garage for the super layout, the modeling budget needs to be put towards 150 yds code 75 and about 30 points and motors!
-
Good idea, I wonder if there's someone still there.
I,m old school, the thing I miss most about living over here is being able to walk in to model shops and browse. At least I knew that when I got my purchases home they were in one piece without crushed boxes or at a neighbors house with the kids sticky fingers all over them. Model Rail direct has them too but last time I ordered something from them the postal charges were a rip off and so badly packed that I was lucky the model survived. Its box didn't!
I've never had a problem with Hattons in over 30 years!

Iain C Robinson, please note.
The missus has just persuaded me to set up a workshop and build a small layout in the spare bedroom.I will be starting this at the end of summer.
Do not take this warning lightly - the Colron Kid is back!!!
We do hope that you will be doing an indepth tread on here warts and all. Can't wait!

Saw dust, baggin up wood chipppings ARRHH...... Iwas really enjoying this thread up untill now!
I wish there was time this weekend to make that timber yard it looks terrific. Instead I'll be sanding up MDF all day and emptying my dust extractor.

3 indecipherable votes requires an explaination............
Not going to gripe on about Hornbys supply and demand issues any more.I was exited to see these in stock on Hattons new releases page but on finding that a round trip of about12000 miles is required because Hornby only filled existing pre orders my blood presure went up. I'll be spending my money elsewhere! -
I love my mothering-law. She drove 300 miles to a motor show then spent 3 hours walking arround the car park!

Unfortunately it is for collection only.
Edit: Sorry my mistake.

Durhams rock hard water putty is a new name to me but it sounds very useful, I'll check it out.
-
Writing it down in a list (with check boxes ) actually works. I had about 50 unfinished rolling stock kits in various stages from half built to in need of weathering. I created a list with check boxes for each stage of construction, detailing, painting, lettering, weathering and loads. It all got done!!
There is a new list for all those buildings that need finishing.
-
I'll be happy to, Iain - when I've got a completed building on it!
Regards,
Tony.
If we were on the same side of the world we could join forces Tony, I have all these buildings and no layout to put them on

I don`t want to hijack this thread so here is a link to it; http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/1263/entry-11324-ruined-abbey-dontd-be-afraid/

You're very kind, Iain, but I'm far from heroic; ill-tempered and irritable is more the default mode. Just.. its getting embarrassing beyond words to continually post on stuff without a single tiny item to show. I've put up a couple of pics to show that a layout actually exists. There are acres of space, particularly on the stock-free pic where there is about 2' X 12' requiring a city-scape beyond the far tracks. And its been like this for years, literally. OK, you shouldn't bite off more than you can chew, but when I started things weren't anything like as demanding, so I'm stuck. The Bilteezi house backs, to the left of the girder-bridge - a temporary expedient!!! - are falling over they're so tired of standing alone. When I win the lottery I'll be in touch!
Regards,
Tony.
There is at least TEN eastern region pacifics in that second shot and what with the six road shed being empty I recon on there being a few more tucked away somewhere too!
Nice layout configuration Tony. I can imagine the layout in full running mode with short commuter trains trudging along, a lenghty coal working inching its way in the opposit direction, an express charging between them and a couple of engines shifting about the depot.
Epic stuff!

I tell ya "don't try this at home". Wasn't worried about a mask just keeping all my fingers!!

The hill billies round here haven't got sheep but they keep mountain goats!
Edited for misspelling. Again.
