  1. This is awsome! Hard wired to boot!! Puts my wiring jobs to shame. (To quote SWMBOsquatch). When I get the railway building built, fancy a working holiday?
  2. Ex great Central goods engine number 6190 waiting for the off as the short pigeon special passes heading north.
  3. Had some time to photograph some trains on the layout today, appologies for the bad images they will get better I promise. Preserved GNR N2 drifts down the viaduct with LNER twin set. BR days. WD 8f makes light work of the 1in 50 gradient heading north with an unusual short empty banana trian . So much so that the fireman seems very relaxed. Busy moment as unidentified LNER Rod takes on water while waiting for an up pigeon local hauled by J72 number 2313. The little jordy tank also pauses for a drink.
  4. Now a couple of images for all you doubters out there!
  5. Dave Shakespears Tetley Mills, what a great setting to run trains through. Although Little Wick Hill is pretty damm good.
  6. Running session today me thinks!

  7. Running session today me thinks!

  8. Thank you for all your encouraging posts lads n lasses. And to Mrs Sasquatch for her scenery work.
  9. Eh up lads, I`ll get down t` Walmart n git miself that new camra stand.Eye!
  10. Some more pictures which are not of good quality. I might just treat myself to a camera stand today.
  11. That castle is a thing of amazement. How long did that take you to make?
  12. The Humming birds are not happy. I left thier food out and it froze soild!

  13. Start by working out the gradient of the track beds over the length of the base boards (In this case 6’ 4’ and 6’), then the roads, rivers, building foundations etc. I drew a full size drawing of the view using different colours starting at the back and working to the front. The insulation is 3” thick so I placed the ribs 12” apart then marked these on the plan and view drawings.
  14. This bridge is modeled on the one at Beck Hole outside the Birch Hall Inn. It`s made from bits of MDF glued together and clad with Plastruct O gauge random stone. Again my lousy paint job hasn`t done it justice.
  15. So, have found those lost images this evening. Insulation is fixed with hot glue gun on low setting then fashioned with a rasp thingy before a blanket of plaster bandage. Paper towels soaked in plaster work just as well I have since found out. The sheets of insulation are not cheap but they do have advantages in that they are easy to work with (I used rasps, various saws, bread knives & hack saw blades),they`re very light weight, great for planting trees into and give rigidity to the open frame base boards. Oh and a whole lot of fun!
  16. Posted here are some pictures of the other end of this layout under construction. More pictures taken with my wife`s camera showing the foam infill`s are on an SD card which has been mislaid. The viaduct was a challenge. It was clamped in place while the topography got built up around it, then removed for applying the stone work and painting. I`m not happy with the paint job and must now redo it with the viaduct in place. Mostly 1/2" construction ply with many holes to help reduce the wieght. Edit: Note the google earth map print out used to plot the layout. . 1/4" birch ply for the viaduct. 1/4" MDF is used as trackbed through out.

  19. Not actually visited any railways in the north of England as yet, hopefully this year! What I need is a camera stand to get unblured pictures of this layout. Here is a few that aren`t too bad. General view of the station which shows that I have chosen preservation era but have kept the goods roads open to rail traffic instead of sandwhich traffic. Back side of station using wills products blended with the skaledale buildings. Borises article in Model inspiration has showed I got the ground levels a bit wrong here. Still lots of detail work to be done. Weatering mainly. Grubby J39 brings a twin set (Ian kirk) into goathland. Wish I had used N scale ballast. Love making signal boxes so one day I`ll set about Goathland box in eanest if I can get my Lambretta started that is. Stone loading siding off to the left. On the layout this is used mainly to park my scratch built NE ballast brake. See my Stock For Goatland Gallery! Overall station view all credits to Mrs Sasquatch for her brilliant scenery work.
