  1. Thanks Paul. Now to get the tensioners and removable links done tomorrow....
  2. Thanks for the various inputs on my gerry- rigging . To answer a couple of the questions possed the radius of the curve is around 18inches (IIRC) and I did install 2 pull offs as well as one mainline post. After dinner I had another look a the set up and remeasured the gantry post to track centre distances. While the pull-offs were correct at 29mm I'd got the mainline mast wrong so this was moved out to the correct 35mm. This together with some "adjustments" on the wire alignment have produced a less tilted look (see below). With one week to go this will have to suffice but I'll look at replacing the pull offs with mainline masts, which I took to be the gist of Paul's advice post- Warley
  3. To be honest this is my first time setting up catenary. I've done my posts as per the RhB example in the Sommerfeldt manual which seems to have the posts on the outside of the curve and the wires doing likewise
  4. Managed to push things along with the wires so we how have (the easy) two thirds installed. Still to come are rigging up the tensioner mechanisms and removable section. Then testing with a loco!!!!!
  5. Dose of man-flu had swept the household in the last week so 2 sickly kids and myself nit 100% has dented progress. Despite that gantries masts continue to get prepped for anchor points amd tensioners. Also I've pushed on with the rail served warehouse with the roof being added along with the majority of the loading bay. The blue sections visible are the Wilko cheapo Lego-style bricks used to make a supporting shell for the building
  6. Mine came from a combo of Blackwells and Modellbahnlippe, the later being very competitive on shipping from German on the last oeder I did
  7. Have now got a couple more pics that will hopefully assit with the questions above. Having installed a factory settings Lokpilot v1.0 F0 produces 3 headlights on the 'forward' end with one low headlight on the 'reverse' end which I believe is correct for RhB light codes. F1 is a toggle for the cab light in the direction of travel. Having loosened the printed circuit board over the ends and the motor there were no labels to give away the origin of the motor but prehaps someone will recognse a supplier from the attached pic. Bemo dont seem to be immune to dodgy QC in China as I had one of the headlight cables almost cut thro where it been trapped by one of the PCBs against the chassis block. Fortunatley it was a quick fix with a soldering iron and a bit of heat shrink. Dan
  8. Yes, there is a separate LED above each cab space. Will confirm if its on a dedicated function. Will have a look at lifting the circuit boards to try and ID the motor
  9. New toy arrived this morning via Winco in the shape of Ge 4/4 i Silvretta. As this has the revamped chassis designed to take a 21pin decoder the first order of the day was to prise it apart th have a look inside (see pics) Initial thoughts are than there is a lot more 'headroom' under the body now to give the decoder a bit of air and I suppose to be able to shoehorn a speaker into the factory sound fitted versions. Have a spare Lokpilot 21pin left over from soundfitting a Intermountain ES44AC so that will be going in later so I'll report on lighting functions etc in due course Cheers Dan
  10. With a combo of work and the kids being on their summer hols the long list of jobs for Santa Maria before it's trip to Warley had taken a bit of a backseat. With my wife's Beetle convertible replaced I now have the whole double garage to myself so the layout has been partially set up to work on. First up are the electrical / DCC issues identified at Rotarail. Firstly all the fiddleyard points have had their frogs isolated and rails bonded to combat shorting. Secondly all the 2nd gen DCC Concepts point decoders have had the centring feature disabled and then reprogrammed. Latest job to be completed is re-rigging the four servo driven uncoupling ramps, swapping out one stripped motor and then setting the actuator arm throws on the Digikeijs DR4024 servo decoder. Uncoupler ramp in action Next up are a couple of points that the little shunting tractor doesnt like then it's catenary wire time!!

  14. Congrats to Chris and the team for a great show
  15. Had a great day at Rotarail and thanks to Chris for the invitation. As to be expected from its first show outing there a number of issues on the snag list to be addressed on track and stock running plus the remain work required on the overhead wires, signals, backscenes and small details So thanks to Paul for the advice and Milka and Ian for his assistance over the last couple of weeks
  16. Knocked off for the night after fixing some scenic issues, cleaning track and putting in the centenary masts (bolted only). Main bugbear today has been the Peco /WWS static grass glue drying gloss for a second occasion. It's been hidden as much as possible but its prob needs a rework after this weekend and once I've got a fresh supply of Woodland Scenics glues and the Peco stuff is going on the bin. Jobs for tomorrow is to link up and programme the servos for the uncouplers, have a last hoover up and test run the layout before boxing up
  17. Thanks. If u can bring it along I'll give if a go
  18. I've gone for the fine wire so that should be fun stringing everything together
  19. Hi Jim. No, wires are going in but at the moment it's a bit touch and go as to whether they will be in for the first show next weekend. Watch this space......

  21. So......more progress. The glossing problem was solved but by vacuuming up the excess long fibres and adding a thick ground cover of 2mm fibres before reapplying the longer ones provided sufficient cover. The chinchilla dust used as gravel has proved somewhat problematic to get to stick. The experiment with Mod Podge was a failure with it not sticking anything so it was back to Woodland Scenics scenic cement. I've also been able to push on with the overhead gantries with uprights fitted.
  22. So a quick update on last night's foliage planting. My normal adhesive for static grass is either Woodland Scenics or Scenic Express but after seeing a couple of videos extolling its virtues I got some Peco / WWS Basing glue to give it a go. Anyway last nights activities saw me use it for the first time in the bottom right corner section in the above pic. It seemed to glue ok but seems quite shiny compared to the Woodland Scenics used elsewhere. Upon inspection this morning the glue has dried but where the glass covering is (deliberately) thin near the track there is a glossy sheen. Its can be rectified by the Peco is now put to one side pending further testing on some scrap material
