  1. I certainly agree that they put on a good show with something for everyone.  However, if the club do not have a current website & this is the only e-mail address quoted I think it is reasonable to assume that this is the way to contact them.  The clue is in the e-mail address 'info@exemrs.co.uk'.  To me that means it is for requesting information.  If it is no longer active or they do not want to be bothered with answering questions, then delete the address.

    Peter,

As said anyone who has previously exhibited will or would have had the contact details unless they threw them out?

Equally as noted above the website is being rebuilt, the current page does NOT have a contact email during this process, the site being minimal during the rebuild. The correct / current email was posted above on this thread. train@exemrs.co.uk as a reminder.

  2. info@exemrs.co.uk' but no one has had the good manners to reply.

    Because that's a very old address. train@exemrs.co.uk

However anyone who has previously exhibited the same contact details will apply.

Also bear in mind that the website is being completely renewed as mentioned there and elsewhere on RMWeb, hoped to go live April.

  3. I don't suppose you're going to Hershey...? I have drawn a GE Steeplecab for 3d printing but am needing dimensions from a modified square hooded loco (the last one in the world being plinthed there), and the Spanish railcars from scratch too...

Let me have aa sketch showing  which bit you need, if we get there I'll give it a go. Need to be today or tomorrow morning.

Measured up a cane car a few years ago at a hotel.

  4. Robert,

Purchased from eBay. Quite a fluke as I regularly look for Plasser ( I used to operate ) Normally expect to see stuff new at weekends, I think this appeared on a Tuesday. Came from China in a marked box (P&) which was also nicely done. I asked the seller if he knew who made it, he didn't, hoping there may have been other or similar models. Seller said a one off model.

Although the box says Starline Resin I have not been able to find anything else further.

    Regards.

    Kev

Made by Starline in Germany for Plasser's

  5. Are any of the Cuban class 47's still around, or have they all been scrapped years / decades ago ? Are there any interesting photo's and info on 'tinternet about them in service and after withdrawal ?  Just curious to know what became of them, cheers  :)

They were all scrapped around 1999.

Class 47 website has some under construction and there are a few on flickr after withdrawal. I have some builders photos from W W Winter of Derby. There was an article a few years ago in Traction magazine.

Most were stored at Cardenas and photos exist of a line up of them. They are no longer there as I have walked the area and could find no remains.

  6. Reading between the lines, Rapido made about "Two Dozen" FCC liveried bodies last year and there are three in the UK (don't ask me how I know...).

I'm modelling the Hershey in the 1950s era and the small Mill inspired layout is at the first fix scenery stage although I've yet to do anything about the buildings. Looking at your very nice scene makes me wish I'd gone for something more rural.

One of the three's mine.I recall one being pre ordered and at the third sold off stand at Warley.

Modified class 47 diesels (T975) built Clayton Derby and BUDD railcars readily available. On of the BUDD's was ex Via Rail.

Narrow gauge has awhile feast of options. Even British built Brush S1(3 foot gauge)  https://www.flickr.com/photos/kevin-staddon/3349503441/in/dateposted-public/ (one of my pic's)

Some more dumped in an old depot.

  7. Hello Stadman,

I have seen your model of the P&T 08-16. May I ask where you purchased this model?

  8. D5054 (ADB 968008) Carriage Heating Unit (4/80) noted at Newton Abbot (as referenced in post #397). The equivalent unit at Exeter was housed in a vehicle that resembled the old horse box wagons and was used to heat the sleeping car that was attached to the up sleeper. I am not aware of sleeping cars being attached at Newton Abbot so am not sure of it's precise role. I believe it remained in situ for the duration of it's stay at Newton. As one of the last survivors it has been preserved. Four still exist of a class of 151 with 5032 and 5061 on the North York Moor's Railway, 5054 on the East Lancs and 5081 G & W Rly. I believe this concludes the complete history of Class 24's in Devon!

Saw this and one other at Exeter prior to conversion, which I think was carried out at Laira

  9. You forgot the Class 47 Paul. We used a re-geared 47 on the ECML Peterborough-Newcastle runs, and often on the Test Track too. We used Peaks on the Test Track as well, one of which was involved in the 'January 9th Incident' of course.

Only the 'Young Kit' version would be authentic for use on a POP Train model, that's the one with the Marsha Hunt hair, kipper tie and mega-flares.

That must have been draughty riding in the open like that?

  10. I am having the new baseboard timbers professionally prepared. B

Well I know the guy who often drives the traction engine( Gordon). He's keen so you should get a good job.

Saw the pictured ensemble on  glory heading up the A30 couple days ago.

  11. It would be, but as far as I'm aware there aren't any model raliway printers that have the printers required to print to the same specification as Shapeways.

The thing is that if I was to go to someone else, it would probably be a one off print for my use, having a full time job means I can't manage a full model business with the costumer service it deserves, and I wouldn't be comfortable handing my designs over for someone else to sell.

I would love to have them to sell, but I think at the moment it's just uneconomical

http://www.cwrailways.com Is model railway based (the link didn't copy yesterday)

I appreciate what you say about keeping control of your designs but am surprised that you want to use shapeways as you have no control of after sales IMO.

All ok on everything else, full time job here and shifts (nights this week) keeps a hobby being just that.

  12. Hi,

After a break, I have managed to get the Tram bodies finished:

    attachicon.gifTram 1.JPG

    attachicon.gifTram 2.JPG

The sad thing is that when I uploaded them to Shapeways, the cost to print just the two driving cars (with cab inserts) and the two trailer cars will be around £130  in WSF (it'll be £250 in FXD) including shipping, this is before I include the centre car, a Pantograph, any chassis or interior, so I think its a no go for me, unless I find someone who can print with a wall thickness of 0.7mm and down to a detail level of 0.2mm

In other, more positive news, I have released some N-Gauge items, having been requested to, these include the Southern PID's (The regular whens are still in development), the DOO Mirrors, Lift Entrances and Help Points:

Is it worth approaching a UK printer? For example CW railways. I only mention this as I know Chris reasonably although he has since sold the business.

I have no business or financial connection with either, just trying to help (Would consider a model myself)
