  1. 15xx Pannier is the station pilot engine, seen here parked in the head shunt . I tend to use a tank engine as a pilot to release locos from the front of passenger trains, and also to shunt the goods yard. The platform lines have crossovers, but I rarely use these for engine release.

  3. Thanks Neal - totally agree about the benefits of RMWeb. I have to say the sound from the upgraded speaker exceeded my expectations, (even with the smokebox speaker disconnected). I can see me running Torquay Manor more often Clive
  4. Collett Goods heads towards Harewood Halt. In other news and thanks to Neal @Neal Ball I've upgraded the speaker in my Accurascale Torquay Manor. This is the second time I've replaced the speaker. The original sound was underwhelming. The first upgrade was a larger flatter speaker which only marginally improved the sound. This time round I copied Neal's technique as outlined on his thread, (basically cut away part of the coal space in the tender and fitted a bigger speaker). Huge improvement in sound. Now a match (sound wise) for my Dapol Manors. So thanks again Neal.😀

  8. Good spot, probably accounts for the blades of static grass stuck to the buffer stop as well😃

  13. Thanks Sweet pea. It was the first scenic bit of the layout I completed. I adopted the @MrWolf (and others) technique for the water (several coats of gloss polyurethane varnish), I tinted the varnish with Woodland Scenics water tints. The varnish was painted on a sheet of clear plasti-card, which I've cut to fit between the canal walls. The canal walls are 7mm embossed plasti-card, the walls on the tow paths are 4mm embossed plasti-card. Towpath surface is Redutex cobblestones. Best Wishes Clive
  14. 😄Hand of God I'm afraid, or maybe a sister boat. It occurred to me I'd never taken a photo of the narrow boat from the bow end. Problem is it looks as if the boat ran empty both ways. So I probably need to add a removable load, if I'm going to pose it heading in different directions Best Wishes Clive
  15. Thanks for the compliment and for visiting my thread. I'm trying to take more photos of the parts of the layout which rarely get seen on my thread. Best Wishes Clive

  18. This is from the archive, and been posted before, but not in Black & White. Photo taken when the steam locos were on holiday
  19. Andy - I think Neal dis-connected the smokebox speaker, so only using the Youchoos 4ohm Clive
  20. Thanks Rob, very kind of you to say so and for others to agree. I must take some more photos of the layout. Dr Beeching will never find Dewchurch so it is safe in it's own little world. I also need to start building my next tank project. I really enjoyed building the Centurion last year, so have been tempted by another 1/16th scale model, this time the U.S Abrams. Clive
  21. Thanks for posting this Neal. I think there is a huge improvement in sound volume and quality. I think I'll have to do the same. I did replace the tender speaker with a larger flat speaker (so no surgery required, apart from removing the factory fitted speaker). The sound was only marginally improved IMHO. Can I ask did you remove the loco body to disconnect the smokebox speaker ? It is a lovely loco but definitely let down by the low volume on the sound project (for those of us who are fans of DCC sound). I wonder if Accurascale will re-engineer this to fit a bigger speaker in the tender in future releases ? I guess not if the sound fitted versions are selling well despite the volume issue Thanks Clive
