Well Scale is matter of what fits you, I personally model 00 gauge 1;76 scale, which is the most common gauge around and an exelent starting point for modellers. It does tick alot of boxes, its large enough to not cause to many worries with detailing but small enough to fit into most homes. We're lucky in the UK to have two major manufactures of this scale, Hornby and Bachmann, both companies produce very high qaulity models. Another very popular scale is N gauge, in 1:76 scale 4MM = 1ft, in N gauge, 2MM = 1ft. A godsend to modellers who are short on space, at half the size of 1:76 though it is very delicate and not recomended for complete begineers. Again in the UK we are lucky to have two manufactures of the scale, Graham Farish and Dapol, who's efforts have hugely raised the standard over the years. Finally there is 0 gauge, there are many other scales but these are the most common, 0 scale is significantly larger than the other two, definietly not for begineers.
In term of what region to model, that also up to you, I personally model the Scottish Region in the border area (I'm supposed to atleast) but its whatever takes your fancy or what really interests you. Do some reserch to find out what really grabs your attention, what works for you in essence.
Finally, qauilty control is a real issue nowadays, make sure you now what it is that your perchasing and any faults should be brought to the attention of the manufacturer. Remember even modern models have there faults.

In short, it's a fictional locomotive class being made for a private competition between friends.
I see, it looks very interesting, one thought, woun't a GNR tender make more sense? I shall await the full story, to be told, when you tell it
-
Now for a serious question, whats the story on the 4-8-2 hiding in the background?

yes I'd say that the HST is definitely far to round, plus I'd say the the angle of the nose is too steep, though that might just be the photo

Sorry to hear about your loss, its a shame the build couldn't be completed in time. It'll be a fitting tribute when its finished though

What is your question exactly, what is the best rolling stock avalible? What brands should be avioded? What are the best kits? I'm afraid that your going to have to reword this entry before others can answer it. Why not answer these question first, What scale do you model in?, Define rolling stock, do you mean Locomotives, Carragies or Wagons? What period do you model, Pre - grouping, Big four, British railways or Modern image? There are others but this should help norrow down the search.

No I can't, and I can tell you sir that if I was able to make anything to that standard I would throw a party and invite all members of RMweb, very nice work

Last night I apologised to a friend for a silence of five months, for reasons I'm not even certain of, so theres no need to beat yourself up over a lack of comments on a social network site. On the project side of things, be cruel, complete the ones you feel it would be useful to complete and remember:
KEEP
IT
SIMPLE
STUPID
I have numerious ideas for locomtives, none of which ever exsited and not a clue were to start.
