  1. Fran and the super A Team,

I for one cannot wait to receive my order of 37's, and am delighted with the tantalising snippet in this morning's email. 😀

Now if you were to do some sort of poll then it would just collapse with to multitude of livery requests... 😂  anything engineers or dutch and I'm signed up!

    Keep up the great work

    All the best

    Peter

  2. It may be mentioned earlier in this thread but some lovely super detailed HBA/HEA hoppers would be a lovely variation to be considered.

Though the "list" must be getting fairly long considering we're on page 55 already 😀

Keep up the great work team Accurascale

    All the best

    Peter

  3. So prompted by earlier mention of which radius curves the loco would comfortably accommodate. And I do confess that I missed the 3rd radius notes in the user guide - I popped into the garage to test the loco on my fiddle yard helix which uses 3rd and 4th radius curves. There is a bit of an art to placing the bogies on the track correctly and I’d not noticed the bogie frame and wheels have some extra sideways motion which takes a bit of getting used to. That aside the loco did perform as expected running up and down on both running lines of the helix.

I also tested it on my sons set track table track first and found the loco does not like double second radius curves and comes to a complete halt. I’d had known that had I read the manual properly I know.  I’ll hopefully do some load testing on the helix in the coming days with the loco now that it’s run in..

    cheers Peter

  4. So far as running straight out of the box, I’ve found the loco to be very consistent at a number of speed settings on my analogue test bench. Slight squeak in one direction, but it’s now reducing with the more running in its doing. I’m very impressed overall in that much like the 33’s I adore they are also very reliable.

Once I’ve fitted a dcc decoder I’m sure it will be even better. Lighting looks good in my view.

no doubt others will post their views in due course.

    cheers Peter

  5.

It’s that time of the year where it’s warmer in the garage and I’ve realised I’ve neglected my layout thread. Since my last update:

    - I’ve laid and expanded my lower fiddle yard,

    - developed an upper depot area which actually turned out better than I’d anticipated.

-extended lower fiddle yard capacity to include an extra four sidings to allow me to locate four more fixed formations, added bonus is I’m now able to accommodate one or two HST formations.

-extensive testing of fiddle yard helix.

-extended depot headshunt to accommodate locos or dmu sets.
-realigned one corner of the layout after discovering my track laying abilities with flexi track was causing some locos to derail. One of the fixes was to replace cork underlay with woodland scenics foam underlay.

As many will know you’re always seeking to improve the flow of operation on a layout. Plenty more updates to come..

  6. Hi,

The BR Intercity Executive brake composite (R40020) arrived in the post today.

At first glance it looks very nice in my humble view. Bit of weathering on the roof will tone down the clean appearance. In time I hope other white roof executive derivatives will be produced, as I’d definitely buy them.

    regards Peter

  7. Hornby HST Valenta TTS decoder pack appears to have come back into stock with Hornby as was charged earlier today for a pair.

Good news as I’d actually forgotten that I’d ordered some.

  8. Hello,

Just got round to testing out my BR Blue LMR version 25093. Upon going to fit some couplings I noticed these circular stubs underneath the buffers. Any idea what this is supposed to be?

As it’s fouling any coupling on either end... or does it pull off- apologies if this has been mentioned before.

    cheers

    Peter

  9. Well the awaited replacement weed killing carriages are now back in stock at a Invicta. Was a nice surprise to get a call asking if I wanted my set. Great service by Kerry in difficult circumstances.

    Many thanks.

  10. Hi there,

I contacted Hornby customer services via email a couple of weeks ago when the corrected body shell versions began to materialise in model shops. I asked whether I needed to obtain a correct body shell through the shop I’d previously purchased through or by returning the original 60 to them.

Hornby customer services to their credit responded this week advising they would supply a replacement body shell to me direct. The replacement arrived this morning in the post less than 48hrs after first Hornby correspondence. Hats off to Hornby for handling the query so promptly.

    Regards Peter

  11. I took a couple with my camera phone at Warley on Saturday. There was such a scrum that I wasn’t able to hang around with my son in tow. To my eye they appeal, even if I model the western region!
