I think you will find that some insulation would be a good investment. That sort of building can get very humid without it.
Joseph,
Thanks indeed. I've already got roof insulation waiting to be fitted in the next couple of weeks, new door and window and extractor unit with humidity sensor. Hopefully in the next couple of months it should come together.
Cheers

Hello,
So the work in the garage is plodding along nicely. Finally finished installing the lighting and power sockets a few weekends ago, thanks to my dad who did most of the work. A new window and door will shortly be fitted, all the while I'm just about finished with the interior painting. It always takes longer than you think!

I've got a few more worktop units to assemble before I start building some more baseboard units, which are going to go round the entire wall area of the garage.
Cheers for now

Odd that the digital version on Pocketmags doesn't appear to be downloading properly, in that only the first six pages appear then nothing. I've uninstalled twice and reset wifi, and it's the same. Must be something at Pocketmags end possibly?
Sorry should of clarified I'm using an iPad.

Hello,
Well when I said in March I was moving within the month, that was very optimistic, that said we have moved outside the M25 for the first time in ten years. And been in a month and its very nice it too. As with most older homes there's plenty to be doing, though tradespeople are doing the bulk of it. Painting is my limit. Garden is mature and will keep us busy, and then that brings me to the garage, which will in time become the railway room and new home for Castle Cary..
At the start it was this...

The garage will be painted inside and led lighting will be fitted in the next few weeks, extractor fan and a new door and window are also being ordered/fitted.
Today I've been assembling the workbenches which will support the layout and have extra storage beneath. I've bought enough benches so it will fit all the way round the garage, though for the moment time is precious with the jobs in the house!

And finally unpacked the layout sections from its packing material, which Pickfords did a great job with I must say, nothing broken or damaged.

I was lucky enough to be treated by my lovely wife to one of the evening Pullman services. Weather was threatening to rain but it actually turned out fine. Food was excellent and service superb.

Hello all,
So yes its been a while and still on track for moving from South London towards the Woking direction. Likely now to be within the next month, which is progress. On the layout nothings been done, its dismantled and bubble wrapped ready for the movers. I have been selling surplus stock too. I have though updated the layout plan as I would like to apply rule 1 and backdate it so that CC has the up and down loops reinstated and I've decided that there's likely to be a small motive power depot too. I'll post a plan once I've finalised the layout, but likely to be heavily influenced by Taunton.
Cheers

Hi Stu,
Your new purchases look lovely, but will be even better once the locos have some grime added.
Some years back there were kits you could buy (from well known auction site) to add directional lighting to Lima dmu's. In the end I opted for express lighting kits for mine before selling them on when Bachmann introduced the 101. And hopefully the Dapol 121 and 122's will be arriving in the not too distant future too. The preproduction ones I saw at Warley were superb!

Hello Stu, and fellow Rmwebbers,
Its not quite stopped but not far off. I've sold my place and currently house hunting at present. The layout construction has halted as layout that had been built has been dismantled pending a move. It means most weekends have been given up to viewing suitable homes etc. All have either a loft or garage for potential layout spaces..
I've almost finished the signal box, just need to glue together the roof, and a few other bits then do some weathering and apply the name board. I've taken delivery of my BL Dapol A4 and its a lovely beast. Though not test run it yet.
Cheers

I'm not in a position to test run it yet as I've dismantled my layout in view of a house move in the NY. But will certainly test it on my test track over Christmas.

Well, there was me thinking I'd receive my reserved loco in the new year.
But it would appear the BL locos have landed as I received a package ten minutes ago. Just going to make a cuppa and have a look..

Some nice samples on display at Warley this weekend. Though I didn't manage to catch the blue and grey model running, just with its lights on.

I'm looking forward to receiving mine in due course, though speaking with Andy from Dapol he indicated that if this initial batch were successful then BR versions would also be produced.

I don't think the all blue version should have a sealed beam headlight either?
Indeed. "Please note they are 1st decorated samples and physical details such as headlights may not be correct per the production version".

Hand built decorated samples have arrived with Dapol, though they suggest more pictures will be posted in due course...

Western Region OO Castle Cary Themed Garage Layout 1970's-1990's Era

The work in the layout room is plodding along. New window fitted, door to follow next week. Layout wise, I've reattached all baseboards and bus connectors to check they've not been damaged in the move and all have been tested and fine.
Mains power has been installed and now working on some of Tim Horns new lite baseboards which are a dream to put together. Cork takes time to glue and dry out. Should also finish the insulation work in the next fortnight too. Though with a little one on the way my modelling time is being dominated with nursery prep.

I've been mulling over whether I add an additional line to the Weymouth route, to provide additional operational interest and more flexibility when moving stock from the yard to fiddle year on the opposite side of the room. Not sure yet.
