Evening Cav, firstly I do like the 58, they were such good looking engines IMHO and you have the best livery for the beast.
As for extending the track past the end of the board, well I fell it will look so much better in the Station area and I also like the idea of the extra running tracks as opposed to the lifted tracks.
It all seems to be coming together mate, very nice.

Hi Big Jim, you carpentry looks super mate, well done, still looking forward to seeing some trains, maybe even a Class 70 hahaaaa

Hi guys,
Listen carefully, Andy & Jeff. I can read between those painful lines of text that your are both tearing your hair out (you've gone a bit too far Andy - just like me!) having no layout to work on so my master plan is to farm off the wife for a couple of weeks whilst I let you both loose on Dent. I'll be at work of course but there are plenty of inspirational photos around the den for you follow TO THE LETTER ... I don't want any brash changes and 'what might have been' ideas on this project. So when can you start?
As an aside. I bodged up a 100w soldering iron today to make a foam cutter in best Blue Peter fashion, whilst it works well with polystyrene its pretty useless on this kingspan board, anyone got any ideas - please?
Mike I'm up for it, I have my Hot Glue Gun poised and Network South East 50 and 33's at the ready.
Platform with Coffee vending machines, replace the track with Hornby set track NAILED through the middle and do away with all that wiring and go back to push pull, hhahhhahha.

A Class on passenger duties:
It is now a step closer to completion, with the motor fitted and tested. All that remains now is to loctite the wheels and crankpin locknuts, trim the latter back, wire in the chip and add further weathering. With power to the pickups on the motor, there didn't appear to be any tight spots. Oh, and add crew to keep Bodgit happy
Now that's proper loco modeling, NOT out of the box, as I do, I was reading it and thinking of a good punch line, something like the Crews gone for a comfort break, and then I read the last line, hahaha
Got me sussed.
I think that B & W suits the layout a treat and it certainly suits the Loco.
All very nice mate, and a credit to you. :locomotive: :locomotive:

Hi Woody, I hope to get there at least for an hour or two.
Have a
goodNO GREAT Show. -
What a Layout?
Whats a Fell?
Whats a Garage?
still in libo :rtfm:

Didn't you measure the car first? when I was selling I had a chap arrive with a miniature Showman's Traction Engine in his Estate and we tried it in 3 or 4 before he found one it would go in. I nearly had a hernia getting it out of his car onto the trolly and then into and out of each car in turn.
Lo and behold, the one it fitted in he didn't like so drove of without so much as a thank you.

Looking at Mike's recent work on Dent has convinced me that the revised Fell, using insulation board, is definitely the way to go. Lighter, easier to shape, less mess and - in the end - cheaper than the way I built the Fell on KL.
His photos have certainly whet the appetite! Andy - I think you're salivating, too?
Jeff
NO, just my normal dribble, hahhaha.
I cant wait to get started and run some proper trains again.
As I've said before Kingsley was only meant as a stop gap and something for the Clubs open weekend but I failed to meet the deadline so it should be now scheduled in the November Mince Pie weekend.
I was hoping to get some 3 link couplings fitted at the weekend but with such a demand for weathering, tutorials and general eating of cakes I didn't get any done. Also most of the fine files, drills and tweezers I need are in a box somewhere in the Universe, I hope.
Busy for the next few days so I wont be doing any daytime postings until at least Monday I would have thought, although I will still pop my head in for a quick look to see whats happening.
All the best to you all.

Lovely work there Jim, really nice bushes and the Shed Doors stand out a treat.
Keep the pics coming. :locomotive:

Very good Polly, I'm CONFUSED , but still very good, it looks like there's some interesting train movements possible, will there be a fiddle yard at each end or was Southall a Terminus?
And whats the bit bottom left, as that looks like a F/Y Rat Run?
Confused of, where am I?

I know what you mean, women have no sense of the cost of timber these days. ahhahha :sarcastichand:

Stunning pics, some really good stuff there,
Well done.

Hi all,
A couple of errors on the last post because I can't see the thumbnail clear enough but I'm sure you get the general idea.
To finish this weekends work....
Monkey Beck runs under the access road to the station and the bridge is in stone rather than brick as is B96.
I started with some 0.040" plasticard and mounted the basic outline over it in Wills Dressed Stone. Then it was the arch segments which were cut from various offcuts and applied separately.
Similar underside to B96
A little more work done on the sides and almost ready for fitting
Some general views of the end result....
That will be it until the weekend (so you can cancel your alarm call Andy)
Seriously Mike, that's going to be some Layout when its finished, the Station and Platform area look enormous.
Just brilliant :locomotive: and thanks for the pics, just like a Bus, you wait ages and then ************* :nono: :nono:
EDIT TO DELETE YOUR SMILIES, hahha

SNV31324.jpgHi all,
A few more 'colourful' pics for your delectation...
Bridge sides for Bridge 96 under which runs Monkey Beck, the source of water for Dent station and station masters house TO THIS DAY, (my wife would never put up with this, so that's one less mouth to feed if I ever buy it!
This is the underside of B96
Attach a small timber strip to prevent collapse of tunnel shape
Underside in position
The bridge sides glued and clamped in position
View from the front side
View from the rear
B96 with coping stones in position and generally complete.
I don't know, give him an inch and he takes a mile. brilliant pic all the same.

A good evening to you all and hope you've all had a Great (Western) Easter.
Now here's a turn up for the books.
Not long back from a day on the Welsh Highland Railway, over a cuppa, I was googling the Brentford Branch Line and came across a photo of 9773 on a rail tour along the Brentford Branch Line (25 July 1965). I followed it up and HEY, B I N G O Didcot's 6106 headed the train into Southall, Brentford Bay from where 9773 took over. Now that bit of the tour could be modelled though I'd have to reduce the number of (BR/SR) coaches to two.
Photos of 6016 and 9773 in action are on the tour details on Six Bells Junction.
And to finish, a Shark on the Llangollen Railway on Friday.
Polly, I always said the waters around Bedwyn were dangerous.

WOW JK that is some roof space, its bigger the the whole PLOT of the Bungalow we may still get.
I do like the wall and river, it wasn't till I saw the last pic that I realised it was a model, just brilliant. :locomotive: :locomotive:

Hi Mike, well worth the wait for the pics mate, really nice and as Jeff said, some nice height and depth variation's so the scenic's should be stunning.
-
So Jim, after your visit to York today and talking to Mr Gravett (post in Lounge) we should see some more stunning scenic's this week then, hahhaha.
-
Very nice work in the corner, much better.

Talking of demolishing Bungalows, there were 5 or 6 big Bungalows on good size plots at the top of the Town, a development company put in a compulsory purchase on the lot and there is now a block of about 120 Old Fogies Flats gone up there.
The people opposite now have NO VIEW, AIN'T IT JUST WRONG.
-
Looks good Shaun but how will you keep uncoupled coaches in the Stations?
Sometime the Prototype can give you more of a headache than just doing what works.
Coming from Devon and spending my Summer Holidays in Cornwall as a child I don't have a problem understanding the accent by dam local filkes around yeer think I'm a Cockney for crikes sake! be em daft or wot?
-
And the same best wishes to you Scott for 2014 and beyond.
Its good to see your still Lurking at least, hhaaaa

If I got a 40ft Holiday Caravan second hand for a grand it make a wonderful den / Railway Room.
Our Chairman found a second hand Porta Cabin for sale for a Grand, 40 ft x 12 ft.
When it was delivered it had come out of a Golf Club, had a full kitchen at one end, Florescent Lighting, Multi Power Points all around and Carpeted. Its now full of Pre Grouping West Highland O Gauge, (what a waste).
But it sounds like a plan to me.

If our move goes ahead we'll have a 2 Berth Caravan in the Drive, hahhah
