  1. Happy memories! Thanks everyone, I can still hear that " clunk- clunk-clunk-clunk" I can remember the single bulb now, in the cab roof, dont know why, but I also had a faint thought it could have been a square fitting, on the top of the bulkhead.
  2. Hi, a simple question for somebody out there, I'm sure!!! Of all the years ive spent in class 08's, I cant for the life of me, remember where the interior cab light was, and what style of fitting it was! Can anyone help remind me, before I fit lighting into a Bachman 7mm jocko ??? Many thanks! And merry Christmas!
  3. Hi, here's a good one for all you data buffs !.... I'm in the final stages of a jltrt 7mm class 25/2, but I cant really be bothered to faff around with the lost cast buffer shanks in the kit, id rather buy a set ready made, and the correct Oleo pattern. Question is, what size were the buffer heads on the rats? If anyone knows and could kindly enlighten me, id be most grateful . Thanks !
  4. I'm amazed you lot are all up so late! Many thanks for all the replies, cant believe I didn't think of slaters myself!
  5. Hi, Any of you knowledgeable chaps know a supplier of miniature flexible driveshafts ( aka cardan shaft or c.v joint) I'm building a 7mm class 25 and want to use a centrally mounted motor driving both bogies via jointed prop shafts. Of course, I'll also need telescopic shafts too! Thanks !
  6. Hi, there is no off the shelf match for rail blue, but I did obtain the RAL and BS codes for rail blue, yellow, grey and the intercity and railfreight greys. An online company called CJ aerosols will fill a can with any colour, just give them the code. I brought so much rail blue off them, they now sell it as rail blue! And you have a choice of matt, gloss or semi! They are on the web. Regards
  7. hi, all GWR locos had an ejector, even the pannier tanks ( somebody will now prove me wrong!!!, probably some TVR relic that didnt!!) but if it was operating a passenger train then it would have to use it to get the brakes off before it could move. if it was on an unfitted frieght, as most of these were then the ejector wouldnt be used and hence not normally heard. i think this is the sound most desirable by the modeller wishing to re-create the days of steam.
  8. for all my brass built locos I use Halfords grey primer, its fine on brass!!!! The secret is cleaning the surface before you spray, how you do it is up to you but make sure it is clean, preferably slightly keyed in too.
