Trip to York and Monkbar Models meant purchase of EWS gold so gold band and base rust layers added. Realised have no EWS transfers so order needs to be placed before completing all weathering so yet more wagons move onto " the to be completed" shelf!
-
EWS livery and weathered black over painted the rail freight red
-
Like an idiot applied a light layer of rust powder to coils before adding bands and need to add yellow to securing pins to cradles and lightly weather and a 2nd BZA will be ready to enter service.
Found in the spares, forgot I had it drawer 2 Cambrian Models SPA kits that will fettle and using images as references from Martin Read and Andy Jupe websites will convert into EWS livery
-
Earth wash and earth weathering powder added to wagon frame, will dry with a matt finish
-
Bogies and wagon side and floor have coating of frame dirt. Cradles painted and powdered with rust colours
-
Winding down from a hard week at work wind and heavy rains seems to send the kids nuts so time to open a can and do a little bit of modelling
-
All rust tones added with wash of earth to complete
-
Dirty black and worn black with dark rust base added
-
Crane hooks and divider in place and lean up before undercoat
-
Last of the diagonals in place so main structure of the cover complete. Needs the divider and crane hook to be added
-
Top clamps now in place lining up with the small black oblongs visible on prototype. Need to fix in place thinner rod to represent the securing lug and find some small white arrow transfers to represent the ones again seen in the photo.
-
Thin slivers of rectangle tube was cut and applied to the sides of the cover to represent the openings for a fork lift to be used to lift up the cover
-
Bought another coil carrier at the Doncaster a Show this weekend and will work commitments permitting will be the main modelling project for the forthcoming week
-
Back from Doncaster show and some bits and bobs bought so this evening should see the upright clamps in place and the main cover tidied up.
-
Second part of roof added and start made on the locking stanchions tor the sides. Off to the Doncaster show to see if I can get some strip and rod needed to continue
-
Start made by creating basic shape of the coil container top using 40 thou card as a base and evergreen 100 thou strip for sides. Top will be formed of 30 thou card
-
Have indeed the Con Cor kit- Grand Trunk version

An early morning rise to something I ate disagreeing with me meant some modelling before work today. Frame and bed of carrier base coat of frame dirt with touches of eroding burnt rust powder added where the cradles will sit
-
Just needs a couple of locos inbetween
-
Basic weathering and detail added. Will add WC shield and number when all paint etc dried. I think will look OK parked up but due to due restricted side swing on the front bogie not sure what curves will go round!
-
With the front bogie now in place has a very restricted side swing. Might only run up and down on a straight!
-
Pontefract was very snowy but the plow was not completed but the Jordan plough was used on the layout. 1 year on and Menasha will be at the a Canterbury Show Jan 2014 and the aim is to have finished the plow.
-
Yeap model of the Jordan Spreader Plough so thought would go one size up!

Looking through stash of models found I had 2 Loadhaul BDAs so next project will be converting it into a BTA pipe carrier which will intend to run empty as if returning back from repair
Using this link as the prototype image

Where would we be without the photographers that take this type of photo!
