  1. Thanks Manna- an oil and paraffin store it is!

    I've made a fair bit of progress on the bridge and am happy with it so far. I used various thicknesses of pastikard sheet and various 'I' and 'T' sections to make the structure. It is held together with plastic weld and has been painted with grey aerosol primer, with black on the underside and above the tracks (mainly above the MPD lines where engines are stood for longer periods). I need to put the road surface, which inclines towards the rear of the layout, on next.

    Some images so far;

    I have started to make some heavy engineering loads for my off-scene engineering company. I have used some 3D printed parts bought at a model boat show I went to with my Dad in Haydock on Saturday. I must say the printing is very poor, I haven't used one item as it was taking too long to clean up so scratch built a load instead;

    Thanks for reading,

    Wow absolutely fantastic modelling :)

    it looks stunning !

  2. The class 31 ( 31144 ) by Hornby does not have black doors and cab window surrounds so after a nudge by a freind I gave it a try, I used to be good enough 25 years ago with a paint brush for this type of small job but not anymore :stinker:  I need to strip the black off and do a proper spray job with masking tape

  3. Hi all, and thanks to Simon and those that liked.

    More progress pictures with the cutting now reaching the end of the first baseboard. The polystyrene has been covered with strips of paper glued on from an old phone book.

    Thanks for looking

    Shaun.

    I can`t remember the last time I used a phone book, so I may take your idea and put it to use on my next project when I scrap Carr Crofts

    its a good idea !

    Simon :)

    I have also done the hard standing under the admin block but I'm not happy with this so its going to be redone, whilst working on this area I have also been considering how to create a view block at the end of the admin block where the end of one of the "false" sidings can be seen. As the layout is fairly small I am deliberately not going to over clutter as I want to create the illusion of space but wanted some form of view block here, so far I have three options a) - shipping container in use as a store, b) 2 grounded VEA vans or c) a parking area. Options a) & b) are shown in the photos below, I would welcome peoples comments on what they think works best (these are mock ups only - I will repaint the container if used, the plasticard base is not finished etc):

    Point motors and some parts to get my powercab working are at the post office - so hopefully I will be able to run trains by the end of the week.

    I would go with a container, old vans in my opinion ended up being homes for chickens in farmers fields, containers seamed to be more in keeping with depots in later years
