The faded red looks spot on. Did you just mix some white into the red before painting?
Humbrol 200. I bought it for doing a faded VAA but have never got round to it!

Inspiration taken from one of @hmrspaul's photos of said wagon. Still a way to go but I am happy with it so far.

Would it have something to do with your user name as well?

My set of 6 Tower Railfreight LtD edition wagons arrived yesterday. Wagons numbers:
360004
360050
360060
360067
360112
360204
Having done a little more research, 360210 is the last I can find with central ladders, there is a picture of it as a CEA on SmugMug and you can clearly see the brackets from the removed ladder. First with the side ladder I can find is 360228 as per Paul's notes earlier in the thread.

Tower Models pack of Dapol Railfreight HEA's turned up yesterday so it would have been rude not to pose them in the garden before the light went.

Some refurbished HEA wagons just released from works. Won't be long before they're battered and warn out again!

No snow observed, it's safe to travel.
I had to defrost the car this morning, does that count?? First of the season.
To echo others, I thoroughly enjoyed the show and it was great to chat to few folk at the MIOG stand. Great to be back at Stafford.

Nice, look forward to seeing it at Stafford.
I think we're on the balcony, come and say hi.

Again, quiet for a bit but another guildex purchase was a Buzz Models FNA. Should have this just about ready for Paint for the weekend so it will be on the MIOG stand at Stafford MRC this weekend.

I had a good look at Pete's HST kit at Guildex and it looks very good. I've not built much in the way of brass but decided to have a go. I should have bits of it together for Stafford MRC show next weekend on the MIOG stand if anyone reading this is coming and wants to take a look. These are some of the pictures I took of the pair on Pete's stand.

Well its been a while and we have built and now exhibited another layout in the meantime (Dovedale hit the road in March!).
So back on 'High St', although it may get re-named. Cam stripped the boards as what we build weren't really sturdy enough and they have now been re-built in a slightly different format. All buildings and trackwork were recovered and now we'll get cracking again. Here is a taste of things to come.

Now, where to go with this............
Modern Image, yes does seem to cover everything from c1968 (in my mind) to the present day. Maybe it should be the 'Deisel and Electric Era' as I see pre 68' as 'Steam Era'. If you want to go truly Modern then a 66 is c25 years old and an even older design. 68's 88's and 195 units etc. Anyway, that's buy the buy and not something to get into here!
2nd Gen DMU's. Yes, they seem to have been overlooked so far. I suspect the main manufacturers will wait and see how Dapols 66 fairs, I have heard rumour that something is in the pipeline, but no idea what or from who. I have a Peter Clark 156 and it looks good, I just need to build it! Some of Peters other kits look good, but as has been said you do need some skill to build them! I would be interested to hear/see more of your potential 2nd gen kits @djparkins
Lastly, as I am part of the core group at MIOG, the FB page is a great place to ask for info and a sharing of minds. I will be at the Stafford MRC show in a couple of weeks time with our 'Roadshow' set up for our exhibition next year. So if anyone wants a chat please stop by, I'll be up in the balcony somewhere! There are also build guides for a number of kits on the website, both reviews and Workbench bits and bobs.
Lastly there is a kit/rtr list I put together a while back on the website, but it does need updating. @djparkins I am not sure what you have available these days but if there is anything you want adding to this list please drop me a line and I'll tweak it up. I am trying to keep it to TOPs coded rollingstock.

Bargain of the day at Guildex on Saturday, a NQR Dapol Brake CAR Van. Only damage was one set of brake rigging, so not a big job to fix.

Picked up and old Humbrol 1:43 Landrover 109 a couple of years back. Finally found a use for it, though maybe not 100% prototypical (I've only found pix of British Rail ones) it looks the part.

Please let those of us that can not attend (distance, an ocean of distance!) know about the 66 and the GWR railcar. TIA.
I should remember the 66, the Railcar might be a bit more difficult!

Northumbrian Painting Services does something very similar in 7mm scale, I am sure they do it in 4mm too.

This week I have been mostly....... trying to get stuff off the WB. These three Dogfish have been my main priority this week in between Turbots (which are also now well on the way). I seem to have found some motivation again finally! All started as black pre TOPs versions. One completely re-painted and the other two renumbered and weathered. Still a little bit to do but I am happy with them.
