  1. Further my query 're Southern coach set numbers, I am looking at East Devon/West Dorset branches. Stock is basically 30's Maunsell.
  2. I have set my layout in pre 1948 Devon. Has anyone any information regarding the numbering of the coach sets in the county?
  3. My cassette fiddle yard is proving most unsatisfactory. I suspect it it lagely down toy own ineptitude. Some time ago one of the magazines published a comprehensive guide on the theme of fiddle yards. Unfortunately I cannoy find the appropriate mag. Was it BRM, RM or Hornby and when? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Chuffing eck!

Has anyone experience of the sound units advertised in RM by Mylocosound? They advertise as fitted to a GUV van but indicate they can also be fitted either in other wagons or separately. DC or DCC units are available. Like many people I have a lot of older, but perfectly serviceable, locos few of which are suitable for DCC. Never mind the cost and that I don`t really understand it anyway! Tony
  5. I read about this layout first in November`s BRM and, as my old Gran would`ve said, was "fair wondermazed!" The thread was even better. I knew how it would turn out but the photos were so much more informative and the constant input from other members fascinating. I acquired a panelled door from a DIY store a few years ago, cheap because it had a small hole in one side, with a view to using it as a baseboard. Time it came down from the garage roofspace!! As an aside, does anyone remember an RM article many, many years ago on a modeller who had built a complete stud of SR locos mainly from cardboard?
  6. Looking good!! I have a Lord of the Isles in a display cabinet it may soon be out and on the workbench!!
  7. Obviously I am in a minority on this one! Perhaps I am lucky as there are 3 model shops within 10 miles radius, my favourite being East Somerset Models. Nonetheless I still feel that layouts should exceed trade stands if only by a small number.
  8. I often go to model shows, despite my wife`s raised eyebrows, my main interest being to get ideas and generally be inspired by the layouts displayed. Lately layouts seem to be taking a backseat to trade stands. At the recent Wells show it was proudly announced that there would be 12 layouts and 19 trade stands!! I am all for some trade support, and often buy from these stands, but trade stands seem to taking over. I realise that it helps with the cost of putting on the show but when there are fewer layouts than trade stands I`m beginning to lose interest. Oh and don`t get me started on the rucksack gang!!
