  1. Whatever levitational device it is that is being used has now swooped across to the other side of the layout, where it finds lighting conditions to be completely different. We are still focusing on 61113 though.
  2. More shopping done, so here is the last train of the day from Grimsby. with one of our more presentable local B1s. I decided to do a full session using my small tripod, so everything you see for a while will be from up in the air.
  3. Not a good start to the day. Went to car, mirror has fallen off again. Went to image store, and found I have run out of shopped photos. Found this plonk you may not have seen before, and that will have to do for this morning, I'm afraid.
  4. Two more views of Seagull, now waiting for the off. I have had a very strange day. I needed to get photos of my car taken to get it sold on Motorway, and enlisted the support of my neighbour, who understands mobiles and their cameras more than I do. However, our efforts kept getting rejected, so we took a break. Yesterday I had the car valeted, and after the guy had gone found my rear view mirror in the glove compartment, so getting that back on was a priority. Asked the nice chap at my local garage, and he said to go to either a place about three miles away, or to Halfords, 15 miles away, who he said would probably fix it back on for me. That decided me, and off I went. On the way, one of my windscreen wipers decided to detach itself, and yes, it was raining. Response at Halfords? "Impossible to refix them, you'll have to go to your Ford dealer". Had enough by now, so didn't try the place three miles away, and came home for a cup of tea. Rang dealer, and was told that I'm not registered there, they can't/won't help me. Tried next nearest dealer, but they didn't bother answering the phone. Screamed quietly so as not to upset the neighbours, after which we tried the photos again, but John couldn't get them accepted. Raining hard now, so we took a break, but I decided to have a go myself. And somehow, it worked, so the car is waiting to go in the next Motorway auction, with a gratifyingly good reserve price. After lunch, went to the place in Bingham, three miles away. Nice man said it may be possible to get it back on, showed me what was necessary to achieve this, and then said he'd do it for me. He did, and for the time being at least, it has stayed on. Then I mentioned the wiper blade, which had somehow stuck to the side of the windscreen. I'll have a look, I might be able to repair it, wait a few minutes please. Back he came, no, can't repair it, so here is a replacement, which he fitted. I asked how much I owed him, and he said, no that's all right, happy to help! So from depths of rage and despair to find that there are still some very good people in the world after all. A very contrasting day. Why didn't I go there first though?
  5. Please see groan button kindly provided by Clive below.
  6. I always photograph them when they appear, I can assure you.
  7. It isn't causing any running problems, so I think I will leave it. The camera is, as usual, exaggerating it anyway.
  8. As the A4 gets closer, we can see that it is Seagull, on the return leg of one of 34A's three daily A4 turns to Leeds. Two minutes elapse with both expresses at the platforms, then Galtee More gets the signas to move north.
  9. The A3 has stopped, and with 13 on is well off the platform end, which means the chimney is nicely placed to avoid growths. Approaching on the Up is the 5.33 Leeds-KX, A4 hauled, which will also stop, giving the station staff a very busy few minutes.
  10. Water puddles? But that means the nice lady will have got wet, and then her dress would be clinging to.... now look what you've done.😳
  11. Galtee More through the arch, with nice lady looking on. and again, just a few yards further on, and soon to come to stand.
  12. One Grantham A3 goes on its way, and another promptly appears. This time it is Galtee More with the 6.20 KX- Leeds. It is followed in by B17 Tottenham Hotspur, which has only come up from East with the shuttle.
  13. Isinglass in the gloom... and back out into fresh air and daylight again.
  14. The same three locos, but from on the bridge and now we concentrate on the Heart of Midlothian, as Isinglass carries on through.
  15. The same three locos, but from on the bridge and now we concentrate on the Heart of Midlothian, as Isinglass carries on through.
  16. More on the same theme this morning, starting with another north looking shot of the passing expresses, this one, I think, from a more sensible angle. then our man on the other side of the tracks gets the southbound view, and the J6 in shot too.
  17. The J6 continues slowy along the slow. While on the main Aboyeur is departing, and meets Grantham A3 Isinglass running straight through with the Heart of Midlothian Not very successful, I think.
  18. Aboyeur again, still from a slightly elevated position, which a lot of people seem to like, and with an experimental heavy crop for this location. Soon afterwards 60148 is at rest, and we have a rear three quarter look an A1 for a change.
  19. On the Down slow we have a J6 returning the Holme pick up to New England. while on the main Copley Hill A1 Aboyeur heads for home with the 6.10 KX-Leeds.
  20. Here is that very shiny A1 at journey's end. But in complete contrast Platform 2 sees the arrival of a very run down local B1 with the 6.20pm from Grantham.
  21. Two stopping trains now, both scheduled to arrive at 7.12 pm. From South Lynn we have another Ivatt 4... while from KX, the 5.00pm stopping service in handled, no doubt with ease, by Great Eastern.
  22. B1 ready to come off. and a few minutes later, Scotsman is on its way. Shouldn't be any wheel slip with this load. The HMRS survey shows 60103 0n this duty on 7th July 1958. Later in the week 60033 worked it on two successive days, so one assumes it was part of a normal diagram, rather than a sign of an engine in poor condition and relegated to light work.
  23. That's what I thought, but felt it might be a bit too simple.
  24. So, here is the motley collection of stock behind the B1. First, a confession. I did not look at the CWN when putting this train together, and relied on the details on the slide of the sequence. So, the leading BG should have been attached at PN, but I had it come all the way from Grimsby. What's more when it got here I discovered I had a coupling problem, so it got swapped for another one, as you will see later. So it did have a BG attached at PN after all. Then the passenger stock, which will return on the 5.52 stopper from KX tomorrow. Then that van. If I'd looked properly I would have seen that it is described as M&GN fish. But the CWN doesn't say that it was either attached or detached at PN, so I'm not sure what that is about.. Then another BG, which did make the whole journey. Both BGs are marked " intermediate", and I'm not sure what that means either. Can any of our visiting railwaymen help? They both had a quick turn round at KX, returning at 12 45am to Grimsby, and 2.00am to PN. The train then stopped at PN for twelve minutes during which time the engine change took place, and probably some loading and unloading of the BGs. Then Scotsman took another 2 hours and 48 minutes to do the 76 miles to KX, stopping at nearly every station on the way. The record of the engine change must wait for the morning.
