  1. You may be right Ian, but I find that I can only crop smaller now, so I can't get the full tender in to be sure.
  2. Alas the fog did not clear until too late. Nevertheless, more images have been shopped. Here's a closer, and in my opinion less successful, view of the two B1s. Following the fish is an Up Bradford, the 6.08pm departure from there. KX A3 Hermit is on its way home.
  3. A short trip down to the harbour Kevin? There will be plenty of time before our train goes back to the junction.
  4. Still short change this morning, but I shall get some more processed during the day, when unexpected sunny intervals are now forecast.....provided the fog clears. So, by this evening the image store should be full again. For now it is B1 heaven again with two Immingham engines in the same shot. The fish goes on to London, while the shabby one in the bay will take the last stopper of the day back to Grimsby.
  5. There was a bit of unexpected daylight this morning, so I got some photos, but no time yet to process them, so still only one this evening. Yet another B1, and another from Immingham, with the second Up New Clee fish.
  6. Last night's forecast spoke of some sunshine today, but alas this morning it is back to overcast and rain all day long. Just one image again then, but it is a good one, as it shows Edward Thompson having to wait for the passage of one of Gresley's finest. This wasn't preplanned, but I admit I did enjoy it when it happened.
  7. The time has come I'm afraid. Rationing is back, as photography light is nowhere to be found. Still, your only image tonight does feature an A4, and that nice view from the platform end, showcasingGraham's brilliant platform signal as well.
  8. On goes Silver Link, just as graceful from this angle. Gone 8.40pm on an August evening, so the light would be starting to go. Given the lack of light at this time of year, I've tried to turn that to my advantage with some of these shots. This is the only sleeping car train we get to see, so I thought you might like another look at the two Thompson cars that Andy, The GreenHowards, very kindly made for me. I tries a plain blue sky as an experiment. It needed a lot of desaturating to get it anything like respectable, and I just find it too bland, but your opinion would be welcome.
  9. Edward waiting. This is not very good, and might normally have been binned, but the sun has not been cooperative for a few days now, so i can't afford to deplete the image store too much. Now comes the FO Aberdeen sleeper leaving the Cross at 7.30pm. and with Silver Link in charge today.
  10. Encouraging signs of progress there, keep it up!
  11. A different angle on 60500 heading under Crescent Bridge. Worth a try, but not worth repeating, is my assessment. Not long afterwards Edward passes the J15, but of course will not be getting much further.
  12. Now we have some experiments, which didn't really come off. This angle on the J15 was prompted by stuff on the right hand side which I did not fancy photoshopping. My thanks to the camera for showing up every hair and speck of dust on the loco. Then we have the early evening York parcels with Edward Thompson relegated to the slow, as something more important is not far behind. I know now that I shouldn't show that little backscene this close up.
  13. Oh dear. Obviously you are having trouble with your PC and your keyboard again Phil. I'm sure you intended to say "nicer than", and forgot to put Much at the start. I'm a bit puzzled though as to why you would wish to state the obvious anyway. Is there a stirring emoji? I can't see one.
  14. That's the man. At the moment I can't remember where I read about him either.
  15. Robert again. I think it is a safe asumption that it was named after the racehorse that won the St Leger in 1880, given that almost the whole class had names from that source. I do remember reading that the workforce in the Crimpsall believed it was named after one of their superiors, who apparently was very bad tempered. At Platform 6, that parcels train from East has arrived. It isn't heavily loaded this evening, so a J15 was given the job.
  16. On goes Robert the Devil. What he did to be so categorised, I do not know. He isn't stopping here, and now passes the nice lady on one side, and the B1 on the other.
  17. Here's the next B1. One of our own, returning with the 5.52 from KX, which has split at Hitchin, the remainder of the train proceeding to Cambridge. The HMRS survey shows 61282 working this round trip almost every day. On the Up, one of the last daytime expresses. The 5.05 from Newcastle brings KX A3 Robert the Devil.
  18. Time for more coal to head for London. Class F, so 9F haulage, and if all goes to plan it will be at Ferme Park considerably quicker than a WD. I've had an idea as to how to deal with the end of the bridge, but you will only find out what it is should it prove to be successful. Not only has it been allowed through on the main, but the distant is off too. This late on into the evening, there is a thirteen minute margin before the next Up train is due.
  19. You didn't think the Claud was going to be allowed to disappear without a couple more photos, did you? It really is such a lovely sight. The British 4.4.0 in general, not just LNER types, must surely be the finest flowering of our loco design?
  20. One more shot of this B1, but there will be more along shortly. And finally it is the turn of the Claud to start on its journey. It occurs to me that it would probably come off at South Lynn, so this may be my excuse for its appearance. Kings Lynn is only a mile from there, and March D16s visited regularly, so that's how it came to get to Peterborough, East probably rather than North, and this is a way to get it back whence it came.
  21. Sorry Neil, meant to be a joke, but in the circumstances not appropriate. I should have remembered your health problem.
  22. Hmmmm. A very complex case this one. At times the patient shows definite and very encouraging signs of comprehension, but then, very swiftly, another outbreak of dementia occurs. Sad.
  23. We are still in our B1 period. 61023 has the first Up New Clee fish. Most conveniently, it then passes the Claud, which will get its chance to leave shortly.
  24. 60862 seems to have been one of 34A's pet V2s, as it was often photographed on express turns, and later was chosen to be one of the very few that received a double chimney. as it approaches the platform, there is yet another opportunity to include the Claud.
  25. However did that get past quality control! I am well aware of the ability of my fingers to get ahead of my brain, and in particular to hit the key to the right of the one I am aiming at, so I always check before hitting submit reply. Not this time though, obviously. There were five corrections to this post, by the way.
