  1. Expect some comments at our little gathering, plenty of punters at the show showed an interest in coming, Bigged up your layout. And expect some to ask for your cast offs too. 23rd January. 2016 The small layout show. The scout complex. Fields park road. Pontcanna Cardiff. Promoted by Lord and Butle.
  2. Cheers bri, yes the stock weathering was a regular topic of conversation, your skills were mentioned to a number of modellers. And for any readers of the thread this is the man to thank, and approach, all the wagon stock, and containers received his grubby attention.
  3. Recent winners have included Mostyn, Esme river, Highbury colliery, lulworth camp. Great layouts.
  4. " honey....... Pass me my trumpet..... I want to blow it. HARD." Just returned from a first class show at Taunton School. Where members of the Somerset Modelrailway club have put on a cracking event. Great choice of layouts, and trade stands, and the finest food hall and eating experience I've had at any show. Thank you for having me. It was " Vopak terminals" first outing and excluding a few technical hiccups ( DCC DIGITAL COBALTS AGAIN) all went well. I was not accompanied this time by my brother, but cracked and took LIz, and had some help on Saturday by Ben Brown. ( cheers Ben) Cut to the chase..... I was presented with the SMC St Christopher Shield. Voted for by the members of the host club to mark the level of the modelling that had gone into the chemical processing plant. I was well stoked you may say, as there were a number of well regarded and highly detailed layouts in attendance that I hold in high esteem. So thank you to all those who voted for the layout I have been told I may place the shield in a position of prominence at home. Paul.
  5. This one is just for sharing, found it whilst looking at info on penrhos One for you brother.
  6. Rode my scrambler up through penrhis junction in the mid 80s, following the Barry railway up from taffy well then across the track beds to machen. There is a video on you tube of penrhis junction but I can't post the link .
  7. This is the unit I bought, found it on flea bay, £50.00 Slightly different from that at the plant, but. I can live with the differences.
  8. Howdy doody. The layout will appear at the following shows in the near future. Taunton. Thornbury, stafford, Derby, Tonbridge wells, Having an involvement in the organisation of the " small model railway show" the layout will also appear here. Pontcanna scout HQ. Fields park road, cardiff, 23rd January 2016. Follow the link for the other fellow rmwebbers attending and exhibiting. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/103912-small-model-railway-show-cardiff/
  9. That is dingle road. No doubts.
  10. It's on the footbridge where the nah nah train goes by.
  11. Final image for now is the stock for the layout, thinking of proprietory foam inserts for the stock boxs.
  12. Having seen a rake of these vans at Tidal Sidings, stored, I've decided to use a long abandoned set from the stock box for a trial flow of finished goods, palletised out to ADJ. Then onward movement.
  13. The depressed tanker was another cheap Ebay find, I've enjoyed the acquisitions on the layout. Also features the newest addition to the fleet, the Hornby sentinel. Frustrated coz me brother bought the same loco a few days later, and we could have shared....
  14. Next up, a set of Joueff bulk hoppers, these have had the decals removed on one side only and new Nacco decals applied.
  15. Picked up the last of the stock from Mr. B . Tucker, (abercynon fach) who has done a cracking job in weathering it. First up is the cheapest set of rolling stock I've mustered, second hand lima oil tanks just tittervated up a tad.
  16. Hello all. Just a pointer.... I have started to sell the stock from the layout. First up are the three un motorised LIMA parcel/post office conversions. They are on eBay with four days left. Starting bids from .99p
  17. Bought a Hornby sentinel yesterday, had it chipped at L&B, not weathered, this will be a spot hire loco just to add variety. Runs a treat, but the small wheelbase may prove troublesome on the point work. Especially the diamond crossing....Fingers crossed. For those interested, I've started another thread on the next potential layout. Follow link http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/98978-tbm-ring-segment-plant/ The chances are there will be very little added to this thread until I get some of chris nevards pictures, he is arranging to come in the next month or so. Just the odd bit of scenic work. Thanks for following, Paul.
  18. I was working there last week, and looking at the engine shed that is still standing. There is track still laid into travis Perkins yard and into old forgemasters.
  19. The first picture is troubling me? Saw a pair of 20s at treforest so comfortable with that image. To your knowledge Have I been to the first locations?
  20. Yep. I'm going for mountain ash. And the pub by Joan's house in the background. But I thought the station was on the other side of the river, same as the NCB lines So whose trackbed is the new alignment on?
  21. My first thought is Mountain Ash. But I'm not sure. I will make enquiries.....
  22. From a slightly different angle, on the track image.
  23. And try this one And some track work. But where?
  24. Excuse the grainy image, but this is enlarged by my iPad and it won't reduce. The scene is Mickey from Dr Who. Passing a checkpoint, whilst cybermen controlling the zeppelins cruise overhead. But which bridge is the 66 rumbling over?
