Suddaby
That looks a cracking line up Jamie. I suspect that Rochdale MRG will be having a committee meeting at Heath again! Kevin

As it is probably in the top 3 of Northern Shows. Well, worth a visit, free parking so no excuses! Charlie

Allegheny1600
You've got to be kidding, right? FOUR US narrow gauge layouts? Out of a total of just 20 altogether? Don't get me wrong - i (now!) like US narrow gauge, rather a lot but i do think that you have a very heavy bias towards USng there. Could you not get any US std gauge at all? What about some European stuff, please? I really enjoyed Eidiger-Eller(?) last year! I will still come along as i do enjoy the show and the UK content look great, i just think too much USng and i believe you may well draw further criticism from your visiting public, sorry! Sincerely, John E.

Sincerely, John E. Yes I realised that when I did the final plan but I also realised that we could be accused of a Scottish bias. There are, reasons as we lost a couple of booked layouts due to illness. Also one of the booked layoutds was retired and I have had to accept it's replacement for a variety of reasons but I accept the criticism and can only apologise in advance. However I can promise you a real scenic treat with the new one from our club which is Eagle Rock. The other point is that though I have seen some good US Std Gauge they had either been before or weren't available this year. I hope that the quality of the other ones makes up for that. The other factor is that with two big layouts, Long Preston and Gresley beat I have had to invite 2 less than normal this year. Jamie
RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted September 28, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 28, 2010 Although I have only a passing interest in 'foreign layouts', if they are of the quality now expected from the Wakefield show I'll have a good look at them all. Red Devil
I'm really looking forward to this, there will be a fair bit of feverish activity to get 'Grime Street' ready and fettled so it doesn't show itself up in such exalted company. Guest operator(s) have/are being drafted in, which is good 'cos they can run the thing better than me!
Andy C
Time to re-new subs again then We could actually be radical - spend more time in the show and not go to the pub. Whhoooooaaaaah what am I saying?

Remind me which day I said I'd come and play please Mark! Looking forward as always to Wakefield show (assuming I get time off for a look round...) I do realise that it can be hard to acheive a fair balance, especially so when various factors like illness etc are taken into account so, just to prove no hard feelings, i will make every effort to bring myself and a couple of collegues along - to show our support and to feast our eyes on "Eagle Rock"!!! As well as all the other scenic treats, of course! Funny but one of my collegues owns "Eagle River Canyon" which was originally built by your own Roger Nichols!!!! Always look forward to a natter with him, exchanging various Yorks v. Lancs insults of course!!! Cheers, John E.

Roger Nicholls is the driving force behind Eagle Rock but there is a lot of other talent involved incljuding Paul Prentice whose layout got very good comments last year, and Tony Morris who is a scenic wizard to name but two.# Jamie
sir douglas
wakefield has always had great, detailed or interesting layouts, such as "eagle rock" has so much detail, it's unbelievable. and not to mention long preston's size (but stick around to see the scotch express heading for ais gill)

RANGERS
Will the catering be up to scratch this year? 'Was good last year IIRC but it's been a bit hit and miss at times in recent years. Important to know when you're travelling a distance straight from work to get there!

plarailfan
I enjoy modern image tail-chaser layouts, Bee Lane was at Wakefield last year. It draws the young 'un's, and it's a large layout to a good standard that very few of us would ever have time, money and space to build at home. RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted October 12, 2010 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 12, 2010 Gresley beat's description updated. And on the catering front we have negotiated permission to selll bacon sandwiches in the canteen. We had problems lst year with the aerobics classes the week after the show complaining about the smell of food. I'm not going to comment. RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted November 13, 2010 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 13, 2010 Hope to see you there Andy. The all colour show guide is now at the printers. It looks as if it's going to be a good show. I just hope I get a dry afternoon to sort out the signals on Long Preston. I've converted them to servo operation as a test run for Green Ayre and need a dry afternoon to get the requisite baseboards out of the shed to do the final modifications to the wiring.
