This is a new channel that shows a lot of 1950's british 'B@ movies. For those of us not old enough to remember the normal night out at the 'cinema' was

Cartoon

'B' movie

Pathe News ( or similar)

Look at Life (ditto)

Main film

This ran for three 'loops'   and entrance was at anytime and you could stay as long as you like, but most people tried to arrive before the main started and just waited until the bit they came in at , be it The Cartoon or whatever came around again.

The B pics were normally rubbish, but now and again some good ones popped up. This Channel is showing lots of them of various quality, and are worth watching if only for the 1930-60's street scenes

So This Sat at 17.50 there is a film on called 'The Last Journey' (1936) which is about a GWR driver about to retire and suspects his wife of having an affair. Now i am not by a long chalk a GWR nut but look out the 'background scenes' and the continuity errors

So sit back and enjoy the nostalgia

Ah, that explains why I can't get it on the wee TV in the workshop, buxxer.

There have been some good films on over the past few weeks, lots of 40/50/60s scenes showing cars, railways, buildings etc.

Hi,

Today and Everyday Saturday 28th Oct. 10.45 - 11.25 am.

1948. Factual. Directed by Cecil H Williamson, produced by E J Fancey and narrated by Frank Phillips. A rare short informative film with some superb vintage footage of locomotives.

Just missed this last night, but the above details were still up during the ad break immediately afterwards.  As to be expected I soon found the next broadcast information - couldn't find anything more on this interwebby-wise so we'll have to see what they mean by "superb vintage footage".

.

Regards, Gerry.

Brilliant  Film    I even   think  there  was a GWR  Night Owl in it,  and  did  I see a  quick shot of  a KING  with  streamlining? ( front view of smokebox only)

Really  worth  watching!

SKY  343  ( other  viewing  platforms  are  available  Freeview  etc)   I am  waiting  for ' Cool It  Carol'  to  return it  has  shots  of  Thumpers  in it   amongst  other  things!!!!!

Talking Pictures TV has got numerous mentions on this part of the forum

http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/119889-old-films-ive-never-seen/

There are lots of films and series on there that have railways featured in them along with other types of transport, Hovercraft, planes, cars etc etc.

Last night they had a short film Today & Everyday featuring railways with a lot of views I hadn't seen before of a very very early days British Railways. I've seen several episodes of Scotland Yard wit railways in them, Rover Done Good...a short that was filmed around Callington in Devon and had a view of what I think are some LSWR gated push pull stock.
