RMweb Premium 31A Posted August 10, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 10, 2016 Got home today to find the September 'Railway Modeller' had been delivered, and very nice to see "Orford to Wickham Market" by 'Orford' of this forum, as Railway of the Month - the first of two articles. Just had a quick flick through the rest so far, but there seem to be several other good layouts and interesting articles in this month's issue. Guest Q663368
It would be nice to download this issue rather than "Continental Modeller" !.
Nick Gough
It would be nice to download this issue rather than "Continental Modeller" !.I'll have a free read of it before I complain though!

RMweb Gold JCL Posted August 11, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 11, 2016 As far as I'm aware, once it's downloaded, you can keep it. At least unless you have to reformat your device.

RMweb Gold tractionman Posted August 12, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 12, 2016 Good to see a feature on Bleach Green, a great bit of Norn Iron modelling. Impressed too with Salcombe, though not much of a Great Western fan myself it's a lovely looking layout, I do like the track plan of the terminus. So certainly enjoying this month's issue. Cheers, Keith
RMweb Premium Legend Posted August 12, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 12, 2016 A really good issue this month I think. Lots of layout articles and inspiration. And while Railway Modeller has an impression of being old fashioned it actually is addressing some of the issues in today's hobbies that others ignore, both in Editorial and in comments pages. This month is has an interesting selection of letters on prices .
RMweb Gold Budgie Posted August 12, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 12, 2016 Good to see a feature on Bleach Green, a great bit of Norn Iron modelling. Those concrete viaducts, made from card, are certainly unusual, and look stunning. This layout, with its burrowing junction, makes a marked contrast with Little Aller Junction, which is flat. I note that both these layouts will be at Warley this year, and it will be interesting to see them in the flesh. Impressed too with Salcombe, though not much of a Great Western fan myself it's a lovely looking layout, I do like the track plan of the terminus. Maybe the track plan can give inspiration for those interested in other railways. So certainly enjoying this month's issue. Me too. I particularly liked the "Grey Mountain" narrow-gauge live-steam layout. I wouldn't mind seeing a video of that.

The scenery goes below track height and, after the junction, one track rises while the other falls. This is mentioned in the article.
Chris M
Little Aller Junction is not actually flat. The scenery goes below track height and, after the junction, one track rises while the other falls. This is mentioned in the article. Whoops I read the post wrong. Apologies for that. The junction on Little Aller is of course a flat junction. Bleach Green is substantially bigger than Little Aller - 26ft compared to 7ft. Little Aller looks bigger in the photos than it is. I'm looking forward to seeng Bleach Green.
walrus
Really enjoyed the 'Orford' article. The model of the Jolly Sailor is wonderful - had me yearning for a pint of Goats Ghost Ship. As another 'might have been' I wonder if there were ever any plans to continue the (freight only) Snape branch through Sudbourne to Orford?
