Chameleon
I can never remember what does what with the various Micro solutions. What order do you use Sol/ set/ fix and suchlike? Which does what?
brossard
Micro set is in the blue bottle and Micro sol is in the red. Micro set is supposed to be used prior to applying the transfer by brushing it on the surface. You then apply the transfer, let it dry for a bit then apply the Micro set again. If there are pronounced details use Micro sol to get the transfer to settle down (you need to be careful as the Micro sol melts the transfer). I always try to have a shiny/gloss surface on which to apply the transfers. I mostly use Glosscote for this. After the transfers are thoroughly dry I use the appropriate varnish spray to get the finish I'm after, usually Dullcote. Micro set doesn't seem to do a whole lot but I use it anyway because it can't hurt. John
Ben Alder
Wot he said, and a definite thumbs up for Microsol - it beds transfers down so they are part of the finish rather than something sitting on top of a coat of paint.
RMweb Gold 57xx Posted July 13, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 13, 2017 I use Microsol for finishing of transfers, it works very well for getting the painted on look. Also it makes a good thinner for acrylic and gouache paint (probably a very expensive way of thinning!).
Nelson Jackson
I love micro sol and micro set, I did use decalfix by Humbrol before, but these two are far superior in my personal opinion. Although I would not recommend micro matt, no matter what I do it just can't dry to a matt finish, the micro gloss however is quite good.
w124bob
Micro Sol is also good at removing unwanted lettering and Bachmann "weathering" , also takes all the lines off your cutting mat when attempting to mop up a spill!
