Bachmann's Class 20 - Lights ?

Recommended Posts

Could someone confirm for me if this loco, in particular the weathered example currently on special offer ( 32-034A ) has any lighting ?

I have a Bachmann factory-fitted sound green 20 already, but it has no lights, and the pictures on Rails website suggest the same goes for this 'bargain' one.

Thought it might be a reworked model, or even a new model ?

Regarding my own green 20, it always struck me as a little strange that Bachmann would sell a premium price sound fitted diesel without lights, but hey, I bought it !

If you wish to have directional lighting and cab light fitted to your 20 that is something that our tech guy does. He'll be in our shop this Saturday if you would like to ring and speak to him or if you're loco to Manchester pop into the shop.

No Bachmann 20s have had lights. The new 20/3s will when they arrive.

Thanks for the clarification Roy

Thanks for that - I think I would be able to tackle lighting myself if I really needed it, but was just wondering if there was a quick upgrade in the offing with the special offer '20 - Not to worry...

Yes indeed! I have purchased a number of lighting kits from Jason and they are easy to fit and well thought out. His instructions are also good.

It required a little bit of ingenuity for me to get various combinations of lights with a 4 function ESU LokSound decoder though.

There's a full description on how to retro fit lights to Bachmann Class 20s in Hornby Magazine issue 72, using adapted Express Models lighting kits.

It features a ZIMO MX644D decoder which, having 10 funtion outputs as standard, is simple to set up with control of all 4 individual white markers and tail lamp pairs at each end. Head codes can be changed conveniently and as often as required.

It's also easy to switch off any lamps which should not be lit when running with a train or paired with another Class 20, using a special ZIMO control 'Unilateral Light Suppression' to switch off all lamps at one end only, whatever the direction of travel.

Kind regards,

Paul

Jason is our tech guy for our shop. He's been my mate for about 10 years and has done all my locos and now does our customers locos.
