RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted September 12, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 12, 2017 LNER Weighbridge SEF brickwork with windows made with the Silhouette Cutter - still in progress 20170911_123335.jpg 20170911_123407.jpg Looks good already. How did you find cutting the SEF brickwork with the Cutter? I had trouble cutting it from the brickside, but it worked better from the rear. I would prefer cutting it from the front though, so was wondering if I should try that again.
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted September 12, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 12, 2017 Only the windows ( to be shown) were cut with the cutter, the rest is cut with a knife. The door is Wills, with 1mm square strip for the frame.
RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted September 12, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 12, 2017 Only the windows ( to be shown) were cut with the cutter, the rest is cut with a knife. Ah, is that because it's quicker or just a principle?
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted September 12, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 12, 2017 To be honest, it never occurred to me to try. Once I had the windows cut, the length of the building could be calculated and the the walls were just cut to size. The glazing will hold all three front windows, with the pre-coloured frame, the side windows should fit the same way. The client wants the roof and tin porch removable so he can fit inside details and add the final colour to the walls.
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted September 16, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 16, 2017 This small commission build has been made from SEF brickwork, laser cut windows and Slater's corrugated sheet for the porch & roof. In order to simulate an asbestos-type roof, the Slater's sheet was turned inside out. The porch and roof will be left for the client to fix, once he has completed the painting (his request) and fitted internal detail.
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted September 16, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 16, 2017 (edited) Well, that's confusing... This is my thread / build, but the Admin team have moved the posts above out from my Model Buildings thread, as requested. RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted September 19, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 19, 2017 Well, that's confusing... This is my thread / build I must reluctantly agree - much as I'd like to have built that!
