RMweb Gold chriswright03 Posted September 28, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 28, 2017 Whilst I realises that some on here have a dislike for Facebook or whatever name you want to call it today someone from the Lincolnshire Railways group posted a link to a Youtube video about the closure of St Marks. It is about 45 minutes long but I found it interesting so thought I would link it in here in case others do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U13BavFqA3o&feature=share It left me with a couple of thoughts. 1. Why did I do all my spotting at Central and none here? 2. How much video has improved since the 80's.
RANGERS
Wonderful stuff, a good look at the location as it was in the 80s and a glimpse of how it changed in ten years.

DavidR
I lived in Lincoln for 19 yrs. and took a stack of photo's on the day after closure, the Sunday. It was mainly occupied by the engineers, who wouldn't let me have the wooden signal box name, but did offer me the gate operating wheel for the crossing at the Ruston's end of the station! (it was far too big to go in the car and the weight....?). Later, I drove down to the crossing at Doddington Road and photographed the box there (Doddington Ballast Siding?). Next day, driving past, I noticed the box had gone. Fast work, indeed.
Peter Kazmierczak
Always thought this would form the basis for an interesting terminus, if one imagined that the line stopped at the level crossing at the eastern end. Some echoes of Bath Green Park in the track layout as, after all, they were both Midland Railway.
