  1. Got mine this morning via Royal Mail. Well worth the 9/10 year wait. My Diag O (in early livery) is running quite happily on my rolling road.
  2. Kernow advise me Railmotor on the way ( I ordered it when DJM Dave announced it), excellent news. I had brown hair and white teeth when first announced - now it's the other way around! With Hattons throwing in the towel, I've diverted my order for a Dapol GWR autotrailer to Kernow (found it was cheaper with them, too).
  3. With regard to payment: I've been waiting 8 years for this item, so it was 'heat or eat' (or Railmotor). Guess which one I chose? Yup, you're right.
  4. Just noticed this topic. There were some weird renumberings in 1948. H.C.Cassrley in 'Locomotive Cavalcade 1920-1951', pictures LMS Scot renumbered M46169, going through Rickmansworth.
  5. Well done, young man, a triumph ! David R
  6. A new one on me: just having my first cup of coffee of the day and home phone rings at 9am - it is (allegedly) Amazon Security. Caller tells me that a Mr. David Thompson has attempted to purchase something using my account. I'm very suspicious as a) the caller appears to be from the Indian sub-continent, b) Amazon only has my mobile number and c) I'm registered on the TPS (although that can mean little). I ask them to send me an e-mail with full details, as they have that address. Caller rings off, with a snort, which is unusual for a lady. Beware!
  7. Gilbert: Coach boards: I printed my own onto coloured stiff-ish paper, used a thin, double sided tape on the back and then cut them to size with a sharp scalpel. Lightly affix in the appropriate position (one coach side only - one usually doesn't see the other) and Bob's your father's brother!
  8. In the early 1950's my Dad was advised (conned) into buying a Trix Twin tank engine, track, controller, transformer, a couple of wagons. At the time it seemed good, but it was AC and incompatible with friends and cousins who had Triang. Within 5 years it was left in a box, unused and finally sold.
  9. Gary used to do them at 247 Developments. I have a pack of 2, obtained from him. Does the new owner of 247 still have them in his range?
  10. The programme filled in some gaps, that haven't been covered before ( I loved the railway Rabbi). However, as one who has lived in Poland, his pronunciation could have done with some help. Several times he quoted 'Lodz' as 'lods'. It's not - it's pronounced 'woodge'. The Polish 'L' with a slash through it has the 'w' sound - as in Wroclaw - pron. 'vrostwav'. Sorry to be a pedant.
  11. For fuller information see 'The Railway at Kidderminster' by A.J.Turley. As many as 7 different B12's appeared from 6/44 to 12/44.
  12. Also seen, in tandem with GW moguls, at Kidderminster with ambulance trains during WW2 The B12 was dual brake fitted.
  13. Sometimes you can get a discount just by asking. Some years ago Mrs.DavidR talked me into getting a new suit from a company called 'Bytom', whilst in Poland (they're really good!).. Having chosen the item, tried it on, all was perfect. All the transaction was done in Polish. When I came to pay I asked the salesman if they would offer any free gif(s): the suit was 399 GBP. My wife tut-tutted and said I had embarrassed her, however the man threw in a decent tie with matching cuff links Satisfaction all round: he'd made a decent sale and I'd got my freebies.
  14. Mosquitoes: here,in Silesia, they're a bl**dy nuisance; we've had occasional downpours and the damn things are plaguing us like mad.
