Club pics as promised! I was on yard duty today, running Framingham’s yard. There’s nothing like running a 40 foot yard!! The last three pics are of the yard I was running. Switching out auto racks, hfcs tank cars, and assembling outbound trains.

Gave the layout a mud bath!!!! Used Lou Sassi ‘s ground goop method, with a mudstone color. Looks very messy right now.

I Can’t wait for tomorrow, I’m buying two P&W Engines from my friend Don!! lok sound decoder equipped. He is also letting me borrow his old MRC prodigy dcc system until I get my own NCE system.

After running my engines quite a bit, I decided it was time to get back to work. Started laying down the ballast and basecoat of ground cover. I always panic and worry when I flood it with the diluted glue! Best thing to do, is to walk away and forget about it until tomorrow. Let the proven methods do their thing!

I have tried various methods. Concrete is an awkward "colour" in that there are many shades, also from new to highly weathered. I streaked the matt black on whilst the wall paint (called emulsion paint in the UK) was wet. The Magnolia was water based and the matt black oil based - seemed to add to the effect.

Some while back I found this recipe for "Aged Concrete" somewhere on the Internet

10 parts flat white

3 Parts yellow (shade not specified)

2 parts black

1 part brown

Mix well and apply. Be advised that I haven't yet got around to trying it, so if anyone does use it, please report back on the results.

Hope it is useful

I'll give it a shot!! Thank you!

I find Magnolia has a pinky cast, try BS 10B15 Matt in any make of paint, to me looks more like a sandy concrete colour, weathered it look ok.

Ok Thanks!!

Ops night last night! My friend Don’s P & W layout. I was operating in interchange train WOFP. Leave Worcester yard, interchange at Fairview Yard, and do a little local switching along the mainline in Branford Connecticut, on my way to fresh Pond yard in New York.

My one structure is sticking out like a sore thumb. I took a field trip to the spot last week and snapped some pictures of the building, to copy Lance mindheim's lead, and have "Photo" buildings. I also took back ground photos for my back drop. I did it with a DSLR camera. I downloaded a free trial of Photo shop but....it's proving to be most difficult for me! Some of my friends have just "trial and errored" with printing sizes for their back ground structures, and they look pretty good. I might do the same.

I think that PaintShopPro is easier to use than Photoshop - I currently use the latest version (I update each year) - and use Fast Stone Capture to capture pictures from the computer and then resize if needed - there is a free version still available or you can get the several-times-upgraded current one from the internet (a wonderfully useful program to me) Have fun!

PR-2 working as a Sunday extra this morning on “the Slate” with a few loads for Tate & Lyle’s new satellite HFCS distribution facility, and a box car for N&D Transportation at the team track. The crew was in a hurry this morning, trying to get home in time for the Patriots game.

(Don’t mind the random cars in the second picture, those are suppose to be HFCS tank cars!)
