RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted June 13, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 13, 2018 Hi all What would be the best way to strip off the Curtains and other printing from Bachmann Mk1 Pullman glazing stripe without damaging or clouding the glazing? Any ideas would be great Cheers
Irish_R_M
Have you tried brake fluid on it, in a bath for a few hours. It's not aggressive on clear glazing. RM.
RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted June 13, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 13, 2018 I hadn’t because I thought it might be too strong. I’ll give it a go though. Cheers

RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted June 18, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 18, 2018 So just to let everyone know, I soaked the Mk1 Pullman’s in standard Dot4 brake fluid for 24 hours, and the paint came off the bodies and the printing come off the glazing very easily. No damage to any part of the coach or glazing. Thanks for the help everyone.
Irish_R_M
Yay! Glad it worked out. Put the fluid through a sieve or mesh, to remove the crud and you'll get years of use out of it. RM
royaloak
Yay! Glad it worked out. Put the fluid through a sieve or mesh, to remove the crud and you'll get years of use out of it. RM It is recommended you change your brake fluid every two years!
RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted June 19, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 19, 2018 It is recommended you change your brake fluid every two years! But seriously, brake fluid weakens in strength the more models you strip, even when filtered, so there comes a point when it takes ages to become effective, so it will need changing regularly depending oin usage. Same goes for IPA, and I assume all the other re-usable stripping lotions and potions on the market. Mike.
