RMweb Premium Dava Posted September 2, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 2, 2018 Evening all, Not wishing to litter rmWeb or for this to be seen as a spam posting but having had a wander to Telford on Saturday, I have done another review of news from the main manufactures, and pictures of the attending layouts. I am still wading through the images taken of the layouts, so some are missing, but they should be there tomorrow. http://railblogs.co.uk/telford18/ Rich Rich, If your report is trying to be definitive, the Minerva Manning Wardle EP shown at the event is missing. So is the Dapol Sentinel. Just small points for followers of small [steam] locos. Dava

Dava Hi Dava, Its more of a roundup than a definitive to be honest, but yes I must admit I did kick myself hard over the Minerva Manning Wardle - it was on my list of 'to do' stands, but somehow I totally missed it, didn't even see the stand. I only realised on the train home, but to be honest I ran out of time - have to do two days next time to give myself more time I think! I did want to have a good look at their Panniers as well. The Dapol Sentinel was tucked away in one of the glass display stands, which was why it wasn't photographed. Rich

Rob Pulham
I would just like to thank everyone who came by to look at my demo and to talk all things Silhouette. I was able to put faces to names for a lot of fellow members that I hadn't met before, I am not going to attempt to name names because I value them all and wouldn't like to omit anyone by failing memory. Chris and I had a great time and we were kept very busy with only very brief time off for good behaviour on both days. Having had a very brief look over the competition entries earlier in the day I had made a mental note that I didn't really need to be in the vicinity at 4pm because the competition was so good I didn't expect to do anything with my entries. It came as a bit of a surprise when I was "mid demo", and Nick Baines came by and told me I was needed at the competition stand. The happy (for me at any rate) result being that I collected 2nd and 3rd in the rolling stock section. It was the icing on what for me and Chris was a very nice Guildex cake. I am still in Telford - a day on the Severn Valley to unwind so photos of my entries will follow when I get home.
Natalie
I don't usually attend this show as I am a 4mm modeller. This year I organised the Signalling Record Society stand which gave me my first visit to the show. I was not disappointed. The standard of modelling on show was excellent and can be recommended to modellers of any scale. There is much to be seen. If in the future I am not attending as a visitor I certainly would seriously consider attending as a paying customer. A show definitely to be recommended.

It is invaluable for those of us that couldn't attend. I was supposed to be there but an unfortunate change of plans in the week before meant I couldn't get along To look on the bright side, I suppose it helped my wallet mind! So much on offer to tempt no doubt. Particularly pleased to see progress with the Minerva Manning Wardle, he LLCo Ruston and the Dapol Sentinel - all will no doubt price extremely popular, paticularly for those with limited space. With any luck, by next year's event they should all be with us......
Warspite
Sorry to be a bit late to the party but I’ve only just finished going through my pictures. I always enjoy Guildex and this year was no exception. Good range of traders and interesting mix of layouts. The event certainly helped to provide some much needed inspiration. I’ve generally found taking photos at Guildex much easier than at some other shows and I had no problems again this year. I’m always concerned about getting in people’s way but everybody was very courteous and helpful. I need to thank all the layout operators who willingly gave their permission for me to take photos of their layouts and many offered to shunt a loco or wagon to a convenient point for a good portrait. I’m sorry I didn’t manage to get a decent photo of every layout. That was entirely my fault with camera settings rather than the layouts themselves! It's only when you get home do you realise what you've missed. Warspite
My wife also took some photos, including some of layouts I missed. I actually think some of hers are better than mine, which is often the case!
