Ed-farms
Could you tell me the measurements of the track centres please. There is no real guide as to where the tracks should go, there is a line of support posts 5.2"/133mm from the inside of the main wall (there are 6 of them down the middle of the shed) However there are 4 steel truss' with lamps at each end of them on them so I'm guessing these should be used as guildines. They are 1.5"/39mm and 4"/102mm from the inside of the main wall. Hope this helps.
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted July 23, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 23, 2010 I would have thought that the position of the smoke chutes/outlets would have been a pretty good indicator of track position?

RMweb Premium phil-b259 Posted July 23, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 23, 2010 IIRC it is advertised as being suitable for standard track geometary (i.e. setrack spacing between tracks)

Guest Max Stafford
It reminds me a bit of the old shed at Workington. Last heard of going down the M6 in a load of trucks to a heritage railway! Dave.
owentherail
Just looking at your super pics you can see the differance to the one i saw in shop. The roof looks much better and not covered in glue and its level and struts on top of roof evenly spaced out, much better, ta.
Ceptic
The overall appearance looks very similar to the Hornby-Dublo 4 road shed. Has anyone had the chance to compare the two, regarding size and compatibility ?.
ringo
Its actually based on the 4 road steam shed that is still at Bescot. Ive been in that shed many times, and the insides look exactly as do in the pics above, albeit with graffiti and weeds! Mind supprises me how the shed at Bescot is still standing.....Ive been on the railway for 30 years, and every years its going to be demolised!!!! Cheers R
Guest TomTank
Decided to see if there was any pictures on the WWW. And I found these these pictures of it. http://www.derelictplaces.co.uk/main/showthread.php?p=129517 It seems a real shame somewhere with so much history is in this state.....with the prospect of being destroyed. Wonder if it could be somehow moved, I'm sure a preserved railway would love it.....but i know way understand the feasibility of moving something like that
Dave777
Impressive stuff. What's the big girders inside for? Look too big to just support the roof, and they appear to line up with the tracks - overhead cranes or something?

Look too big to just support the roof, and they appear to line up with the tracks - overhead cranes or something? As already suggested - they are the smoke troughs. The LMS went over to concrete for the task partly to avoid the need for constant repaairs and replacement which came with earlier materials such as timber and sheet metal etc. And as they were into using a lot of concrete in the rebuilding programme it was a natural extension to use the material.
