RMweb Gold Metr0Land Posted December 4, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 4, 2012 ^ It's not run by an offshoot of G4S, is it? AFAIK No. G4S is/was Securicor, the Swiss operation is Securitas. And no, railcards aren't valid on this M-F working.
RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted December 4, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 4, 2012 That looks very modelable! I've got a model of the rear unit (or something very similar) Years ago prisoner transport was done on BR with rail warrants and a warder. ... for a bit of fiction....remember Fletcher and Mr Barraclough! RMweb Gold Metr0Land Posted December 4, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 4, 2012 ... for a bit of fiction....remember Fletcher and Mr Barraclough! Indeed, the pilot programme was called Prisoner and Escort. It used shots of St Pancras in banger blue days, which were re-used in the opening titles for Porridge as I recall. RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted December 14, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 14, 2012 If only we could ask for it to be put back to its original position. Still better than the previous view of the concrete wall!
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted December 14, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 14, 2012 Years ago prisoner transport was done on BR with rail warrants and a warder. Many years ago they were officially referred to as 'Prisoner & Escort' but around 1965 the reservation instructions were changed to 'Home Office Party' and that was what went onto the compartment reservation labels. cornish trains jez
If only we could ask for it to be put back to its original position. Still better than the previous view of the concrete wall! From the pictures earlier on in this thread, it seemed like a far better position before. Still nice to see some SBB action though! motorcycle
No surprise Christmas present, Olten webcam still where it is However, it seems to be operating a normal timetable even though it's Christmas Day? There must be enough demand for trains today? Only the U.K. shuts down over Christmas?
RMweb Gold DaveF Posted December 25, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 25, 2012 No surprise Christmas present, Olten webcam still where it is However, it seems to be operating a normal timetable even though it's Christmas Day? There must be enough demand for trains today? Only the U.K. shuts down over Christmas? Trains always run in Switzerland - after all people need to travel - and some roads are impassable in winter.
