Rammstein2609
Now that my internet connection works again I can post the latest pics. Some are a bit blurry as they were taken with an iPhone under a fluorescent light. Test fitting the support etch and mesh onto the plastic frame. Looking down to show the support etch underneath. A person placed on the lower platform to show size. Different view. The support etch is soldered to the mesh etch. A close up of my dodgy soldering. A ruler to demonstrate the small size. Test pics with rolling stock: Now off to finish it. Cheers Martin

Bryn
Fantastic piece of modelling, I quite like the mix of plastistrut and etchings, it gives a really nice overall 3D effect.
MRDBLUE17
Hi Martin, You have made rapid progress with this considering you only just got your etch on Wednesday! Having had the privilege of seeing the etch first hand I can share how amazed I was at the level of detail incorporated into the design work. The mesh walkway for the top section is incredibly fine and looked really good and now its been folded and built up with the handrails it really does suit the model well. Having seen some of the other details that will be appearing on this not only will you be as amazed as we were on the DEMU stand at Ayr - the details in this scale have certainly given me some ideas to rethink some of the items going into my own layout. Keep up the good work Martin, Thanks, Mark
Rammstein2609
Hi all, Thanks for the positive comments. Thanks go to Mark for letting me borrow his FNA's too. I have literally spent all day on the diorama today and am almost finished. The security fencing is up and painted and the greenery is drying off right now. I'll be at the Bonnybridge exhibition tomorrow where I'll get to finish off the little bits. If your coming along drop by the DEMU stand and have a look. Sorry no pics tonight but there will be plenty tomorrow. Cheers Martin

Rammstein2609
Hi all, Finally, the final pics. Apologies for the low quality, my Nikon D60 just won't focus (or its my eyes) so I've had to use my iPhone again. Cheers Martin P.s My internet connection is playing up again so it may take a while to post the rest of the pics

MRDBLUE17
Hi Martin, Thats an incredible bit of modelling there, can't believe how quickly you have got it looking like that. The lighting looks superb - and the fencing looks very effective especially the shots taken looking through it. Shame I have to work this weekend and couldn't get to Bonnybridge to see it. Now for the rest of the layout! Has Phil talked you into doing the lights for Southside yet after seeing these? Good luck in the competition, Mark
Rammstein2609
Last three pics for tonight. I will be at Bonnybridge again tomorrow so come by the DEMU stand to have a look and a chat. I will hopefully get some better pics for the summary topic for this diorama. Cheers Martin

Your FNA's look right at home. Phil hasn't mentioned anything yet but that will maybe come tomorrow. I have been questioned about the possibility of some etches for some interesting stuff though. More on that at Falkirk. Cheers Martin

definate maybe
This years competion really has some very impressive entries and this is right up there. Very nicely detailed and a nice feel of authenticity. Love it!
Lyddrail
Martin, The crane is looking very good, well done. Are you doing the cab version? Am I missing where the gates are in the fence for the lorry to enter? I would have thought buffers stops would be provided, but that is your choice. Impressive scene. Cheers. Hi Paul, The crane is based on the new version but the actual crane housing was built quickly to give the impression that all the mechanics are there. This will receive further work. There was a gate in the original etch design to allow access to lorries. Somehow I managed to miss that part off the etch artwork. I think I was rushing to get it sent to the etchers that I completely missed it. A buffer stop is planned but I forgot to order one in time from the 2mm association. Lyddrail
Martin, Just another thought, rather than the second portacabin (or additionally) a store for the loose lifting tackle, a hut for the electrical switch room, and a portaloo (see Lydd pics I sent you). Shaping up nicely. Cheers.
Rammstein2609
Hi Paul, The plan is to rebuild this as a layout based on Lydd (although a little compressed). This won't start until early next year so until then I can start on details such as the ones you mentioned. Cheers Martin
Rammstein2609
Hi all, I will be entering this diorama into the Model Rail Scotland competition in the architectural category this coming weekend.
