RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted October 15, 2009 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 15, 2009 Well they certainly have a bit of attitude to them, ready for testing and then I believe deployed on the Davos line first.
eastwestdivide
I see they're described as "Zweispannungstriebzug", i.e. dual voltage units
RMweb Premium 70000 Britannia Posted October 15, 2009 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 15, 2009 Well they certainly have a bit of attitude to them, ready for testing and then I believe deployed on the Davos line first. Wow, they have certainly broken the mould with that design. They're quite like nothing that runs on the RhB are they. The sleek cab design sits slightly at odds with the snow-plough and the coupler - but I do like them. A Bemo purchase looms once they make one. GoingUnderground
Multiple units are fine, after all that's what I model with the London Underground. But the modern ones all have the same "look" and resemble trams. And the Stadtler are no exception. Not quite the same excitement as loco hauled stock. Actually I quite like the looks of the Allegra - has sort of an evil look to it . But I agree that overall it is quite sad to see locomotives increasingly relegated to freight work only. That trend sure is visible here in Germany as well.

Gordonwis
. Some Swiss people are calling them 'locomotives' because apparently they will haul normal hauled stock on workings such as the Bernina Express...
Horsetan
Very reminiscent of trams.....
