Here we are all done and in the process of painting.

The back head has been finished and now primed. For what was included and a few added wires, it has come out far better than expected. Not perfect but very passable.

The body was finished although I spent some time trying my best to find something else to add rather than painting it. As you can see I have given it a good clean and blackened the vulnerable bits. I am running short of blacking fluid so am being tight with it.

Here we are with the same parts primed. the fire box has a little bit fo filler in need of sanding down.

Next is the frames etc in black waiting for it to harden well before starting the task of making it run. The backhead is also included in it's primed state.

I had to change primer so I also wafted over the sides of the tender in the grey leaving most of the red where the black goes. Did not want two different greens.

Lookin' good.

ATC shoe on the pony?

Thanks

I have the ATC shoe hang just behind the buffer beam. From the photos I have seen on the web, this is how it looks. Unlike the hall I did which was on the bogie. they seem to put a hook on the right hand side of the beam (looking from the front) to hang the coupling so it does not destroy it.

See post 11.

Ah yes, of course. And I had looked at post 11 only a couple of days ago! (doh!)

Glad I am not the only one who has these moments.

I had wondered to ask, unless I missed something around posts 7 or 8, about boiler bands. Or are you sticking them on later?

If they are not part of the boiler in the kit, I like to add them after painting. I use Magic tape by Selotape. I will spray some green when I do the loco, then add them with the transfers. I find by adding them after they look more like they are on the outside. With lined ones it is easier than trying to line them on the boiler, and they are not as fragile as transfers, The coat of varnish seals everything nicely.
