The Return of 'Superpannier' aka 1501

The shortened Graham Farish 94XX bodyshell is now happily sat on top of the butchered Dapol chassis (from the Ivatt 2-6-2). Brass fittings, from N Brass, set the whole thing off nicely. I now need to sort out some piping to the cylinders, as well as the distinctive mesh 'foot boards' that sit on top of them. I have succesfully suggested the distinctively shaped superstructure behind the buffers, from scraps of plasticard.

You will have to pardon the unflattering close up, hopefully it shows that the basic proportions of the real thing are showing through! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GWR_1500_Class

The body has not really had any 'cosmetic' work yet, it will need to lose the handrail along the tank along with a fair few other modifications!

The real thing (1501) is also 'in the works' having recently moved from static display at Highley's Engine House, to Bridgnorth MPD to return to service, which is excellent news :D

Ivatt gets an identity

Continuing the 'Modern SVR' theme, the facelifted Ivatt has become 46443..

..looking at this photo, there is a bit of a 'droop snoot' look to the new smokebox (which came from the Dapol tank engine version that donated its chassis to the pannier).. will have to look at that!

The real thing has been busy today, along with its bigger brother!

Another tricky to create 'must have' for my Victoria Bridge micro layout will be a Stanier Mogul, also out and about today:

I have a spare Farish 'Crab' bodyshell and tender shell, this would, I guess, provide a suitable cab and tender, I wonder what chassis would be best to base the thing on, maybe an old fashioned Farish Black Five, with its small wheels, is the way to go?

Back to the bridge building :)
