Well where was I? Oh yeah, this layout started as an experiment, using bits and bobs and leftovers [baseboard made from offcuts of wood found in the garage, 3 Peco turnouts and some bits of flexi track dictated the trackplan]. I never thought I'd get as far as I have, mainly cos I've never got this far with a layout before! I've learnt as I've gone on, been inspired by others here and generally just muddled along!

The layouts gone from this:

Yesterday I said I'd been 'growing grass and planting a tree', here's a quick pic of this end so far:

My first posting, although I've spent a lot of time trying to find anything I'm familiar with .... so, now I may be missing something but apart from the title 'Suggestions please...' I see no other text, just three images..

Edit - now I've posted this comment, there is original text under the photos....... Ooh dear.

Looks great! Is that one of the backscenes you can buy from International Models?

Also, have you used carpet underlay for the grass? Looks like it, great stuff for creating a 'rural' unkept feeling.

Penlan - glad you can now see the text, had me worried for a moment! Can other people read the text? I've also changed the title - 'suggestions please' was the title of my 'old' thread.

Invercloy - thanks for the comment! Yes it's an International Models backscene, the grass is Hanging Basket Liner.

Jumping the gun Jam, not planning on exhibiting so no need for a lighting pelmet...laugh.gif

Paul, grass is HBL stuck down 'as it comes'

Hi George, thanks for the nice comment!

The building in the first pic is scratchbuilt, the warehouse-type building in the second pic is scratchbuilt using bits from one of Scalescenes downloads.

Hi Matto,

Glad you seem to be feeling enthusiastic about Tallerddig again!

What are you going to use for lighting?

C'mon, you must exhibit the layout :D

(this is my first post since the big move!...hope it works....I'm still tryin to find my way around!)

How did you stick the IM backscene on?? We had a bit of a nightmare using wallpaper paste as recommended - left loads of wrinkles, need to do better with Take 2. That third pic looks great too.

I agree with James - the low angle view looks really good.

The tree on the right-hand side looks good too...

....it takes the eye away from the edge of the background nicely.

It's amazing how long a thread you've created from such a small layout,

and how you continue to improve it - even though it has looked the finished article for some time!

Nice work on the minerals too.... :D
