Throwing in the Towel

Bryn

After some consideration I have decided to withdraw Colwyn Bay Goods from the GJLC. Due to personal reasons, I can not complete the layout to a standard where I would be happy with by July.

Thanks to everyone who followed the thread and gave up time to help with research and construction advice. The layout will go into storage and I hope to have another attempt over the coming winter months.

Hi Bryn,

That's a shame, but understandable (I had to do the same with my own GJLC entry last month).

Like Pete, I look forward to seeing it reappear in due course.

Shame young sir...

I hope you can get it finished one day as it is an intriguing prototype ;)

Hey Bryn, don't worry; it'll be great when it's done and it'll be done when it's done!

All the best,

Bernard

Hey Bryn :)

Dont worry about not entering the layout into the challenge, I know that oneday it will turn up at exhibitions. Take your time, there is no hurry, you have started something which is alot more than most people and I am sure you will be back modelling again soon.

Are you comming to the Expo yourself?

In the words of my old dad - keep your p3cker up chap! (That's the second time I've said this on the forum today) Good things come to those who wait and this will no doubt be an exception.

Fancy an August 2011 deadline instead? wink.gif

I was sorry to see that you'd withdrawn from the Challenge. Of course, I respect your decision but suspect many of the other entrants share your misgivings about exhibiting part finished (part started?) layouts in such august surroundings as the Golden Jubilee Expo. Indeed, I've had my towel to hand for several months now.

However, I'm soldiering on, in the hope that some visitors will be interested in seeing an unfinished layout (no scenics yet :( ) and that I will get some sort of satisfaction simply from 'taking part' in the Challenge.

Hope to see you at GJ Expo.

Brian

Thank you all for your very generous comments.

Sadly, the truth of the situation is that I doubt I will be able to make Expo this year due to issues at work. To say I'm annoyed with how this has to conclude is quite the understatement...

If you are happy with the work you have done so far meets your strandards you could still show it. None of us ever progress as fast as we like, life just gets in the way. Personally I find work in progress fascinating as you can see how its done. Anyway it has been interesting to follow progress so far.
