Flying Banana - Part X

Hello :)

Yup, part ten and still going!! My modelling speed hasnt really changed, its still a bit on the slow side for my liking but I am still doing things. Distractions like trying to find a new job dont really help as lots of my spare time is taken up with that.

Anyway, there has been a bit of progress and enough to squeeze another blog entry in. After plenty of 'tweaking' the chassis now fits into the body and I am very pleased with the fact there is next to nothing showing through the windows although at the price of some of the chassis showing below the side skirts.

The lower photo was taken with a wagon to check the buffer height. As always comments always welcome...

I'll second Kris' "Wow" !

You say that you think it has been slow going, but from what we can see it definitely is worth it - you have certainly captured the character and futuristic lines of the prototype :good_mini: . Hopefully we'll have WSI back up and wired in time for you to run it...

Great work - I am sure when its been painted and the underside of the chassis is painted black it will disappear...good decision to lower it.

It looks great Missy - I do admire your dedication and perseverance.

It's also very much 'my period' and love it's 'streamliner' aesthetic :)

Can't say I'm a fan of these things, but you certainly have achieved a very convincing outline model.

Looking forward to seeing it painted and running on Highclere.

Chris

Part 10? That's nothing, I'm up to part 23 on one of my projects! The banana is looking great - the efforts you've gone to have been worthwhile, you'd never know it was 2mm scale.

Sorry to hear about your problems on the job front - I hope you find something soon.

Looks good Missy.

I wouldn't worry too much about the chassis showing under the side skirts as that area will be in shadow anyway, and we'll all be marvelling at the fact that we can see straight through the windows!

Hello :)

Thank you guys for the positive comments. To be honest I am very pleased on how this is turning out, especially has it has caused my plenty of heartache previously. Right now there is only one bit where I am not sure on how to do it (illuminating the top light).

Very nice Missy!

Glazing that will be.........fun !

Cheers,

Alan

Hmmmm, yes. The side windows shouldnt be that difficult to do but the end windows are going to be fun!

Hi Missy,

It looks like you're winning at last :D

Is it possible to chamfer the bottom edge of the chassis so that the bit that's showing is angled inwards? It would then show less from above.

Above all, it actually looks like a banana!

Brilliant work Missy, am impressed with how well the roof sits, very smooth and convincing. Always great when persitence pays off (actually, it always does, doesn't it).

The Phoenix has risen!

It looked to be in big trouble a while back - but now you have triumphed.

It looks great

Hi David :)

Thats a really good idea, thank you. I will give that a go soon.

Really fantastic work Julia, great to meet up at Wycrail and get my hands on this lovely bit of work, I'm sure a TCS-Z2 will fit in, you only get the forward and reverse lighting with that one though (yellow and white wires) if yuo can fit a TCS-M3 or even 4 in you will have an extra lighting function (or two!)

Hiya Ian :)

Thank you, it was great to finally talk to you, its always great to meet other RMWeb peeps.

Thank you for the tip-off on the decoder too, I have ordered a TCS M4 decoder now from Bromsgrove Models. There should be enough functions on that to do what I need it to do!

Missy :)
