CTMK is a budding writer and blogger, and has composed this piece in connection with a weekly blogging competition, the theme of which was 'Pasttimes, passions, hobbies and entertainment'.

 

I'm not much of a poet myself, but I thought this one of hers was rather good (with a doffing of the cap to WH Auden... ;) )

That's a very nice poem. I like how it lends a somewhat heroic and masculine air to railway enthusiasts - you haven't been manipulating the truth now, have you Captain? :D

Yes, Tim, the image conjured up by that poem of railway enthusiasts doesn't necessarily match reality. As Madeleine and I have met, has she used me as role model :blink: :lol: :P
