I don't fancy your chances in the tour de France...........

Or messing with the Magnorail cyclist.

Having assembled the Magnorail cyclist, which is fiddly but not hard (legs clip together and go on to pegs retained by the upper body, feet onto the clear wheel which clips into the bike) and tried out a card road surface with a thin wash of plaster (to paint consistency) here's a quick video of a test, the jerky motion is because I'm pulling the chain rather than using the motor

Well it works!

Will have to build up the road surface areas next.....

We need a mini Wiggo, then a Faller car can knock him off his bike, then he can be hit by a passing tram. Many cyclists would say this was ultra realistic modelling....

Brilliant! I'm very tempted by this ( maybe as part of that oo9 layout I keep meaning to build..)

I suppose a Tour de France style 'peloton' is quite do- able, with more that one magnet attached to one subterranean 'track', with maybe with two or three tracks allowing for differing racing lines. The only problem would be getting them to lean into the corner, though if the visible section was one sweeping curve.....?

Plenty of branch line possibilities, though I'm mot sure what people would make of a layout based on padstow circa 2012!

I note that the riding style of the cycle is very Dutch, i.e. seat far back and low, wide handlebars etc. I wonder what scope there is for other positions. Racing bike, touring bike even mountain bike. Perhaps with the rider standing on the pedals during a descent?

Thanks for the continued updates on this. Looking good so far. Agree that the riding position is very stately - a figure hunched forward wishing he'd just stayed in bed this morning would be a nice addition. But that's up to us to develop then :-)
