  1. I wish I wish..................... Cement works Small workshops/factories mid 60's era. I model in 0 gauge and many of your kits are not pre-set scaled for this because they wont page match on A4 paper. You do make some pre-set for 0 gauge but would it not be possible to make all your kits available in 0 gauge on the understanding that they need to be A3 printed of as I do now select an area and enlarge to suit. This would remove some of the fiddling I have to do for scaling and just leave me to select the page area on A4 or A3 as it suits me. It may mean I have a join where I don't want one but I'm sure I can over come that by various repositioning of down-spouts,creeping ivy etc. What do you think John? Best regards
  2. nope not seen anything yet so I've gone down the route as I explained above. Simple effective and based on the Lincs coupling.
  3. Very nice work Sandy looks like you're using several different soldering methods, irons. resistive and flame. Exquisite. Regards
  4. Some very nice touches in YARD SHUNTER, Ray. I'll be paying some very close attention to your detail for some hints and tips. I arrived at a very similar layout aimed at shunting and had thought how about having the head shunt on display instead of having the loco disapearing into the fiddle yard all the time. I too was going to complicate shunting by having no run-a-round loop but others on here suggested I would regret it if I did, so I amended my track plan accorfingly.. It's not yet finalised but it is 0 gauge in 11ft and has had the paper templates laid out.
  5. Coming on good Lash. I see what you mean about the track plan and "keeping it simple" not something I follow but I am trying too. Off topic a bit my aged eyes struggle with your very reduced font size, why not leave it at the normal set size? I notice some others do it too, not sure why? As the saying goes BIGGER is better. Regards
  6. Some great stuff happening here, keep it up.
  7. Yes David I also got an update from Richard yesterday too. He's talking of them being available late November onwards if the test was a success which it seems they were. It will be good to see them available again making for a 1 shop hit to get all the parts in one go. Should they fail to materialise then we have an alternative way to produce them Thanks Richard in anticipation of the NEW Lincs appearing very soon. Looking forward to it.
  8. Seems the Lincs couplings could soon be with us but................... David if you have the brass tube cut to length and the wire is cut to length all you need do to make the working coupling is 3-bends. Thread the wire through the tube then>>> 1] First wire bend at the tube exit. 2] Second wire bend at the tube entrance, this locks the pivot tube in place 3] Third wire bend to form the coupling hook. ____1/====/2____\3 lol very crude drawing. This ==== is the pivot tube Apply small weight at the wire tail at first wire bend position then glue the tube in place, Job done. Less than a minute to form and install. Cheers Cheers 15/06/14 UPDATE PICTURE to aid the very crude drawing above.
  9. Seems not Don M. Sandy's simplified version works well see ref above. Sandy sent me a Pic of his which I'm sure he wouldn't mind me sending to you. All you need is some steel wire to form the hook, some brass tube for it to pivot in, a saw to cut to size and some pliers to bend it. It works ever so slightly different to the bracket mounted one but the principle opperation is the same. Let me know if you want the pic. EDIT Just spotted I've tried to send you the pic before, did you get it ?
  10. Orford I've just checked my PM's not emails and I sent you the post dated 7Sept 2012? Don't know why you didn't get it.
  11. Sandy as you kindly sent me a photo I've made it available to orford too as I expect you'd be doing prep for tomorrow's show. I hope that's ok with you. Regards
  12. 14 DAYS ON SINCE LAST UPDATE FROM RICHARD AND JAMIE any g o o d news yet. Price and a source address would be nice. I'm beginning to think I'll be better off using the bits I have to make copies and reproduce them for my own use as I originally intended. I have several full sets of both 7mm & 4mm complete with a couple of jigs so it shouldn't be too fiddly it's just I thought if someone was marketing them that would take the legwork out of getting the wire - brass tube - fish weights etc.. Regards
  13. Nice Model ian. You could use the inny rivets to spot some quick set araldite in using a tooth pick or something similar. Cheers
  14. Well answering my own question, I also emailed Richard at the same time as I posted above to which he has already replied. Here's an extract from it:-- However, I have some good news. A friend, who is designing some etches for his own use, has recreated the Lincs artwork with (what I hope are) some small improvements. I was discussing the artwork with him today and suggesting some changes, which he has already made. We hope to do a small test-etch linked to his own artwork in the very near future, for trial assembly. If this is successful, then we will move to a full-sheet etch, and Lincs will be back in business!! (If the test-etch is successful, it may be possible to do a small pre-production run from the original combined artwork). Meanwhile, I am starting to revise the instruction sheet in the light of my own experiences with assembling the couplers - the previous version is a bit too basic for my liking. I trust this is good news for you and hope that you can hang on a little longer for the production kits. Best regards Richard Regards
  15. Re-ignition>>> Does anybody know if Richard Syms has these back onto the market yet? Thanks
  16. Yes Black sheep you can scale up from 00 but you have to select each part of the 00 drawing and then enlarge by 175% it's all a bit of a fiddle to complete. I have done it as have others but I was hoping that the drawings could be up scaled at source so I could just print them out. It would mean that the drawing layouts would be different but it would be quicker for me. I've found that most scale up parts will fit on an A4 sheet but where they won't it's easy enough to mask the join, even better if you have access to an A3 printer as there will be less joins to mask if any. So really what I am saying is could John make his drawings based on A3 for 0 gauge, he'd have to enlarge by 175% but make them fit onto A3 paper. Then all I would need to do is select 0 gauge version and print out my A3 sheets.
  17. Good work Barry Ten, not sure about you being mad for enjoying the balasting I do too. For me it's the mark that says not toy but model. However I do think your avatar is Mad. Regards
  18. I wish you a sucessful op and a quick return to moddeling.

  21. Just coming late to this thread but what a great looking model layout. Is there a web location that shows the layout in its intirety, ie possibly a mag review or on YOUTUBE. I've tried searching useing the heading from here but I have not found anything yet. Regards
